I bought this at Ulta, not knowing if the shade would even match my skin tone.
Guess what? It did! I’m so lucky!
I have been using it every once in a while. So far I like this powder foundation somewhat. I have worn it alone, and underneath the rest of my makeup. Gives my skin a semi-matte finish and controls oils in my t-zone.
Product Description from NYX Cosmetics:
Want a matte finish to help you achieve a flawless complexion? The Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation comes in a variety of gorgeous shades that provide the perfect finish to flatter all skin tones! You’ll look naturally flawless with minimal effort!
I think this foundation is pretty compact. It fits in my makeup bag. The packaging isn’t bulky and I think it’s sort of cute. It has a mirror, and a separate compartment to keep the sponge for when you’re on the go and need a touch-up.
The package (box) says this foundation can be applied dry for full coverage, or with a wet sponge for heavy duty coverage. I don’t have the slightest idea on how to apply it wet (sorry I’m a newbie), so I opted out of trying it wet. However, the dry application gives a good finish.
In yesterday’s MOTD I wore this foundation without a face primer:
I used my EcoTools stippling brush to apply. As you can see, it’s medium coverage at best. It’s definitely buildable, so you can get a full coverage if you add a bit more. However, your face may look a bit powdery if you add too much product. Anyway, my face looks okay, no oily patches, and it feels like I’m not wearing anything.
I noticed a difference when I wear primer vs when I don’t. I suffer from dry skin around my cheeks and nose. With primer, my skin looked flaky around those areas in a close-up in my mirror. Perhaps it’s the primer itself but I recently bought Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, so I’ll give an update when I get around to wearing it with it. So far it looks best without a primer (no flakyness), I just make sure to moisturize my skin well before applying foundation.
