Dr. Dennis Gross
Alpha Beta Glow Pads Self-Tanner for Face

Quick Description & Claims:

Multitasking self-tanning pads with exfoliating and anti-aging benefits give a natural glow and warm complexion.

Quick-drying, streak-free, packed with vitamin D.

Customizable shade of bronze with these buildable, mess-free pads.

Mini Product Review:

I mentioned in my unboxing vid and post that I don’t use self-tanning products. I naturally tan during the summer and I don’t care about tanning during the winter either. Therefore, I didn’t use these products so I’m not sure how well they work.

Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer in Light

Quick Description & Claims:

Tinted moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 20 delivers lightweight coverage while hydrating with antioxidants.

Mineral sunscreen helps protect skin from sun rays, evens out complexion, and leaves a smooth finish.

Infused with vitamins A and E with long-term soothing and nourishing effects.

Mini Product Review:

This is another product that I didn’t really try but really wanted to. I dispensed a very small amount on my face and it was too light for me. I also did a small swatch test on my inner arm to compare it to my other foundations, and it was still lighter than my lightest one. I’m not very pale, so I don’t think I’ll get any use out of it. Makes me sad because I didn’t great to try it, but if it helps, the formula feels really good and smooth from what I can tell.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby
Blackout Perfume Sampler

Quick Description & Claims:

A dark, daring, and romantic scent that combines notes of spicy chai tea with sweet floral.

Meet the Blend:
Fragrance Family: Earthy & Woody

Top Notes: Osmanthus
Base Notes: Chai Tea Essence

Mini Product Review:

This perfume was ok. I know that practically no one likes receiving these smalls vials because everyone feels different about the scents. However, I thought this one was ok. I actually wore it several times, and I’m already running out. The scent felt kinda of calming when sprayed in small amounts. If I overspray, it starts to smell like alcohol.

I do love the earthy/woody scent and I think I would wear this scent more in the fall. Not the worst perfume sample I’ve received, but not my favorite one either.

Bumble and Bumble
Don’t Blow It (H)Air Styler

Quick Description & Claims:

Innovative hair styling cream enhances natural texture and conditions strands for a polished look without a blow dryer.

Perfect for days when you want refreshed and refined hair but don’t have time for the blow-dryer.

The results: sleek, easy, soft, and air-dried hair.

Mini Product Review:

This product was okay for me. Even though it was made specifically for fine to medium hair (like mine), I still don’t think it did much for me. And if it did, I must have missed it. My hair looks the same, nothing has changed. I guess I could* say that my hair was a little soft, but other than that, I failed to see any other results so this product was a dud for me.

Curl Charisma Rice Amino and Avocado
Leave-In Defining Creme

Quick Description & Claims:

Moisturizing and frizz -fighting styling cream packed with amino acids enhances, shapes, and defines curls.

Creates defined, natural-looking curls without any signs of stickiness.

Hydrating and nourishing with plant-based ingredients likes rice amino acids and avocado oil.

Mini Product Review:

Another product I was confused about.. I’m positive that in my beauty profile I added wavy hair, not curly. So I was confused as to why I received this. I still tried it to see if it did anything to my wavy hair and if it would tame my frizz..I think it did an okay job, but really, this product was made for curly girls. Even so, I loved how soft and creamy the formula is. Some styling creams tend to make the hair feel sticky but this product was perfect, my hair felt hydrated.

Kat von D
Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub

Quick Description & Claims:

Long-lasting, high pigment liquid lipstick with a creamy formula glides on smoothly like gloss but leaves a matte finish.

This lipstick will add a touch of color to any summer outfit.

Formula is long-lasting–perfect for picnics, BBQs, pool parties, etc. Don’t worry about smears or smudges.

Mini Product Review:

Lastly, the product I was most excited about trying. HOWEVER, I didn’t get to fully test it out as I got so busy doing other things and then went on a small vacation over the weekend. I did get to wear it for a few hours to test the formula and let me tell you what I noticed with only two hours of wear:

  • Definitely long-lasting
  • Doesn’t transfer/smudge
  • Dries quickly and completely matte
  • Formula is super super soft and lightweight

I did find this formula a bit drying on the lips but that is normal because it’s a matte liquid lipstick. I did really love it though and while I’m not so sure about the shade, I will definitely try to look into this line of liquid lippies to find a shade that suits me better.

My very first Play! by Sephora box was okay. I was thrilled to have received so many different brands that I hadn’t tried (Tarte, KVD, Bumble & Bumble) but was disappointed that some products didn’t work out for me or weren’t for me. Hopefully next month’s box is better.

  1. I will take the face tanner if no one claims it. I’ll give it to my friend to try it in the winter when I’m back to being pale lol I’m surprised they gave you two hair products- I’ve tried some of the bumble and bumble products before and although they’re suppose to be good, I haven’t been to keen on them either. Those little tubes of spray are so bittersweet, when I get one I like, I get so sad that all I have is just a teeny tiny tester because the actual bottles are always so darn expensive! And I agree with the Kat Von D lippie, I got a shade I wasn’t fond of but I think the formula was good so I want to go find one in a shade I do like. I want to see that color on you though!

    1. Cool! Send me an email, or fill out the form in my contact page! I’ll send all three little samples to you πŸ™‚
And at least I’m not the only one who feels like that about B&B lol. I just talked to another blogger not too long ago and she said she loves them. So not for everyone, I guess lol. I agree! I got a few more vials of perfumes that I really love but they’re samples and I’m so sad that I’m running out lol.
Yes, KVD lipstick: FORMULA IS AMAZING, but not a fan of the color. I’ll definitely try to do a look with this lipstick and see if maybe that will make me like it more lol.
