Brand Focus + Review — YesTo Facial Paper Masks

Hey dolls!

I planned on doing separate reviews for each face mask, but decided against it last minute. I figured it would be better to give my opinion on all four facial sheet masks in one post and also give my thoughts on the brand. So this post will focus on both the brand and their products, more specifically, their facial paper/sheet masks.

Also, I would like to thank my bestie blogger friend Elizabeth for sending me these facial masks (a very long time ago) along with a few other goodies. So generous of her. Thanks doll! ❤ xx

Anyway, let’s get started because this one is a long one and it gets pretty crazy, very fast!

YesTo Facial Paper Masks

So these are the ones that Elizabeth sent me:

  • Tomatoes Clear Skin Detoxifying Charcoal Sheet Mask
  • Tomatoes Clear Skin Acne Fighting Sheet Mask
  • Coconut Hydrate & Restore Ultra Hydrating Sheet Mask
  • Cucumbers Soothing Calming Sheet Mask

The brand does have a few other paper/sheet masks, but as far as I know, these seem to be the most popular ones. My reviews are not in order but feel free to scroll to whichever one interests you the most.

Tomatoes Clear Skin
Acne Fighting Sheet Mask

Quick Product Description:

Yes to not playing connect the dots on your face! Formulated with tomato extracts and salicylic acid, this mask fights acne and pasty white pimples from forming.

When I took this mask out the packaging, it was kind of wet but I had no problems with it slipping off my face. I also noticed a smell, almost floral? Definitely not tomatoes.

I put it on and left it for 10 mins. I immediately felt a cooling sensation but after roughly two minutes it felt like it was tingling and burning a little. I wasn’t sure whether that was supposed to happen or not. The tingling decreased throughout the remainder of the 10 minutes and I began to feel a cooling sensation again.

After taking it off, my skin felt soothed. I didn’t experience any redness or irritation. The following morning, my skin felt hydrated and nourished and my acne was reduced a little.

I could say it helped somewhat, but I may not end up purchasing this mask again. I just simply prefer my charcoal masks over this one because they seem to work faster.

Coconut Hydrate & Restore
Ultra Hydrating Sheet Mask

Quick Product Description:

Yes to going coo coo for coconuts which provides intense moisture for ultra-smooth skin! Rich in coconut and ultra hydrating for those times when your sin needs an extra dose of moisture.

This mask got a lot of hate on Ulta. Almost every review that I read said that this mask burned their skin or that they couldn’t keep it on for more than 2 minutes. In fact, this mask had a 1.9 star rating on Ulta and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rating that low. So yes, I was kind of scared to use it.

So what happened when I tried it?! The exact same thing happened to me! The mask felt like it was burning my skin and I thought it was really odd that a COCONUT hydrating mask would do that. I didn’t keep it on for more than 3 minutes because it started to feel very uncomfortable and I didn’t want to take any chances. This face mask was a total disappointment for me!

Cucumbers Soothing
Calming Sheet Mask

Quick Product Description:

Yes To keeping calm with cucumber which is the perfect soothing agent for the skin (and the soul)! Soothes and calms sensitive skin leaving it hydrated and refreshed.

Yet another mask that people didn’t like. 2.0 star rating on Ulta with the same claims as the Coconut face mask: burning.

I was able to wear this mask for the full 10 mins. I did feel slight tingling and very mild burning, but I began feeling a cooling sensation 2 minutes in which persisted until I took it off. I had no reason to take it off, it actually didn’t burn my skin as much as other people claimed.

My skin did feel slightly hydrated and refreshed, but those effects disappeared overnight. Overall I thought it was an okay mask but I’ve tried better ones with lasting effects/benefits.

Tomatoes Clear Skin
Detoxifying Charcoal Sheet Mask

Quick Product Description:

Formulated with charcoal to detoxify and clean pores, the single-use Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Paper Mask is perfect for those times when your skin needs a serious deep cleaning.

The instructions in the back said if you felt tingling that it’s working, and if it was tingling too much to take it off. I felt mild tingling, not as bad as the coconut face mask, so I kept it on for the entire 10 minutes. To be honest, I didn’t notice much of a difference. I did notice a mild breakout several days later, and I don’t know if it was the mask bringing out my impurities or if it was something else.

Regardless, I didn’t notice a significant difference in my skin (besides the mild breakout) and I don’t think I will be repurchasing this. My charcoal masks work much better and faster.

Brand Focus: YesTo
Research & Opinions

So… what about the company itself?

YesTo’s products are cruelty-free and are certified members of the Leaping Bunny program. The majority of their products are vegan with the exception of those products that use honey and beeswax. Their products are at least 95% natural, and are formulated without Parabens, SLS and Silicones.

In paper, they sound like a great brand! Everything I could ever ask for in skincare products. But why do the majority of these sheet masks have a bad rep?!

I don’t exactly know.

Out of these four masks, I felt an uncomfortable burning sensation in two of them, with the exception of the Detoxifying Charcoal mask (it’s supposed to tingle). The one I expected to work the best (Coconut Hydrating Mask) was the worst!  I do think that the Cucumber Soothing Calming Mask was okay, but I would have liked it better if the effects would have lasted into the following morning.

So how do I rate this brand and their products?!

I don’t typically rate brands and/or products, AND I don’t usually write bad reviews on my blog for that matter. But…. this was one case in which I expected certain results based on the brand and their ingredients, and did not get those results!

Product Ratings:

  • Tomatoes Clear Skin Acne Fighting Sheet Mask: 3/5
  • Coconut Hydrate & Restore Ultra Hydrating Sheet Mask: 1/5
  • Cucumbers Soothing Calming Sheet Mask: 3.5/5
  • Tomatoes Clear Skin Detoxifying Charcoal Sheet Mask: 3/5

Brand Rating: 3/5

My final verdict:

Honestly, I don’t think I will be purchasing any of their products in the future because I’m afraid to waste my money on products that will burn my face. Either their face masks aren’t for everyone or there is clearly something wrong with their ingredients.

Before you go out and buy these, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read my review of each, read reviews on Ulta and anywhere else. I would NOT want the same thing to happen to you, so please do some thorough research!

Have you tried these face masks yet? Did you have the same experience I did?

  1. I honestly cannot understanding all the hype about sheet masks I have tried a few from different brands and sort from feeling cold and slimy on my face they did absolutely nothing 😭. I’m surprised that YES ones were so disappointing they are a fairly decent brand otherwise 🤔

    1. I like some of them, especially the Tony Moly one I reviewed back in July. That one actually gave my skin some hydration. But these were VERY disappointing and I actually had high hopes.

  2. The coconut one scares the heck out of me, burning?!!? What the heck? Sounds very unpleasant. I’m always so skeptical of face masks for that reason and or breaking out afterwards… I’m disappointed with the charcoal one, I use the “Yes to Tomatoes Charcoal” facial cleanser and I actually really like it and find that it works on my skin so I’m surprised that there’s wasn’t a huge difference after using the face mask. I always walk by these masks in Target and think about getting them but now I’m thinking I’ll just pass lol
