September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag Review + Swatches

Happy Tuesday!

I know I didn’t do an unboxing of September’s Ipsy bag here on the blog, but I’m hoping to get back on that here on the blog for this month’s bag.

Today I have September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag review, and I’m keeping it pretty short and sweet today because I don’t have much to say about each product (except for two).

As always, feel free to scroll through for whichever product(s) you’re most interested.

Theme: Like. A. Boss.

I loooooved the bag this month! I loved the texture, it was good quality and I loved that it was all black! I kid you not, I used this bag as a clutch ever since I got it, even though that’s not what these are meant for!

I also really liked the inside of the bag which was silky blue fabric. I can’t think of a better combination than black and blue! Can you?!

Bag Contents:

  • Luxie Beauty Luxie Rose Gold Medium Angled Shading Eye Brush 207

  • Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Glam Bag
  • Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey
  • Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes The Shadow in Toasted
  • Manefit Beauty Planner Mask – Mugwort Astringent + Pore Care and Beauty Planner Mask – Lily, Whitening + Brightening

Elizabeth Mott
Pop! Goes The Shadow in Toasted

Quick Description & Claims:

  • Streaks? Creases? #unsubscribe. This velvety baby blends like a dream.
  • Your eye look will be on lockdown. We tested it on an epic errands day and our smoky eye stayed put.
  • Toasted is a metallic bronze hue that makes any eye color pop.

Mini Product Review:

This was my least favorite product in this month’s bag. I felt like the shade was a bit boring, even if it does make “any eye color pop”. It’s good for a neutral kind of look but I don’t know.. I just wasn’t feeling it this month I guess? I think this shade is better worn with a smokey eye, but I often prefer neutral.

Beauty Planner Mask – Mugwort Astringent + Pore Care
Beauty Planner Mask – Lily, Whitening + Brightening

Quick Description & Claims:

  • SOKO GLAM COLLAB: Chosen for ipsters by boss babe/Soko Glam co-founder Charlotte Cho
  • The Lily Whitening + Brightening mask is formulated with lily extracts to help hydrate and amp up skin clarity.
  • The exfoliating and moisturizing Mugwort Astringent + Pore Care mask is made with powerful mugwort, which is known as the ‘universal herb for protection and prophecy.’

Mini Product Review:

I loved these masks, they didn’t burn or irritate my skin. In fact, they soothed my face and they were so good for my skin after wearing face makeup every day during September. The leftover serum really helped hydrate my skin. The masks themselves were a bit bigger than the ones I’ve used in the past, but it’s not bothersome.

Luxie Beauty
Luxie Rose Gold Medium Angled Shading Eye Brush 207

Quick Description & Claims:

  • We wish we were as good at multitasking as this genius eye brush. Not only does the angled shape help you blend any eye look like a boss, but you can *also* use it for all your fave cream and powder shadows.
  • We’re suckers for anything rose gold, and the pretty handle on this guy looks amaaaazing on our vanity.
  • Have a brush with kindness! This fluffy, synthetic bristled beauty is 100% cruelty-free.

Mini Product Review:

Need I say more? Keep those brushes coming! Luxie is such a great brand for brushes, even though they’re pricey. They’re incredibly soft and of course, cruelty free!

Pixi by Petra
Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey

Quick Description & Claims:

  • Mix and match these universally flattering shades for a personalized flush.
  • The light-diffusing powder is loaded with hydrating Vitamin E and mica, which means it blends like a dream.
  • This warm peachy two-timer also works as an allover highlighter.

Mini Product Review:

I know I said the Elizabeth Mott shadow was my least favorite, but this one is a close second. This one is marketed as a “blush” and I remember thinking “oh no! It’s so shimmery!”

I wanted to like this but as a blush instead of a highlighter. I was looking forward to using the peachy shade on my cheeks but it was so shimmery and it looked SOOOO bad!  Instead of a nice flush of color, my entire cheek looked shimmery, not a good look. So I used it as a highlighter instead. I’m not excited about that, but oh well.. I wouldn’t repurchase.

Colourpop Cosmetics
Lippie Stix in Glam Bag

Quick Description & Claims:

  • You voted, and here’s the winner! This exclusive matte shade was created in collab with our favorite peeps (ipsters like you).
  • The velvety formula is majorly pigmented, which means you get totally opaque, full-coverage color.
  • Even though it’s matte, it’s super comfy and non-drying thanks to moisturizing shea butter and Vitamin E.

Mini Product Review:

When I saw the product, the bullet looked pretty bright and I was afraid I wasn’t going to like the shade. BUT.. It was surprisingly subtle. It wasn’t too bright and I think it’s pretty wearable for Autumn season. I do like the formula of this product, in fact, this would be my very first Colourpop lip product and now I know why everyone loves this brand.

It’s a very comfortable matte, long-lasting, and it moisturized my lips. Lots of thumbs up to this!

Here I am using the Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes The Shadow in Toasted on the eyelids, Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey as a highlighter, and Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Glam Bag on the lips.

  1. Girl, look at that flat lay photo!!!! Impressive and very very appealing all the color mesh so well! I also loved the bag for this month, I didn’t even think to use it as a little clutch but woah, I might start doing that too! Sometimes I just want to grab something small when I’m on the go! I felt the same way with the Pixi blush, I tested it on my finger and no way would I use it as blush. I did try to use the creamy side for highlighter and although it worked it wasn’t a nice glossy highlight that I usually go for so I was definitely meh about it. I honestly can’t even really remember what else I got in my Sept bag lol but clearly I didn’t like much. I am definitely excited for my bag this month though!!

    1. I’m glad you like it because when I was editing it, I kept thinking “it looks kind of crowded” lol.
OMG you have Ipsy too?! I thought you only had Play! by Sephora 😀 what items did you get in yours?
But yes, it came very handy as a clutch, there’s just so much space in there for my phone, ID, debit/credit card, my mirror and a whatever lip color I happen to sport that day 🙂
Yeah exactly, the blush was a bit disappointing which was a bummer because the brand has some really good products from what I hear, but first impressions are important and I wasn’t impressed :/
I can’t wait to get Octobers! The products look neat!! 😀

      1. Girl, yes! I do both ipsy and play and I love them both. I really can’t remember what I got in my Ipsy bag this month lol that pixi blush, I got a red nail polish, I think one of those “The Balm” eye shadows but I actually use it for blush, and I can’t remember the rest. I like having the play too because if I don’t like much from ipsy I at least have one more surprise package coming lol or vis versa!

  2. I always get excited when Ipsy sends me face masks. I love that they always send two instead of just one. Also, that lip color looks awesome on you. I don’t think it would look so good on me.

    1. The old me would have been like “ugh, I prefer makeup”. But now that I’ve gotten into skincare, I appreciate getting these face masks even more. And these were great!
Awh, you think so? Did you receive it and just haven’t tried it?
