February 2018 Boxycharm Review + Swatches

Hey loves! Happy Friday!

I know my schedule has been a little off but I’m literally just trying to fit so many things into this month because next month is going to be a bit crazy–more on that another time.

Today I just wanted to quickly review my February 2018 Boxycharm contents before the weekend because I will be busy working on next week’s posts. πŸ™‚

  • Crown Brush Pro Brush Trio

  • OFRA Cosmetics Pop-up Palette + Blush Godet Refill

  • PUR The Complexion Authority X-Faux Lips: Plumping Lip Exfoliator

  • Vintage by Jessika Liebskind Eyeliner Pencil * (gave away–not reviewing)

  • CoverFX Shimmer Veil

PUR The Complexion Authority
X-Faux Lips: Plumping Lip Exfoliator

Quick Description & Claims:

With an instant boost of shea butter, raw sugar and exfoliating beads, this 4-in-1 lip scrub pencil exfoliates, plumps, hydrates and soothes. Using the shea butter to soften lips, while the raw sugar and exfoliating beads are used to buff away dead surface cells, it moisturizes the lips for a softer, smoother, more plum lip!

Mini Product Review:

I really liked this product. I’ve never tried a lip exfoliator in stick form so it was really neat and not as messy. It’s very simple to use too, you just apply all over the lips, gentle massage with your finger and wipe with a damp cloth.

I did notice some slight tingling (nothing painful) as well as some plumping, but it didn’t last long on me. Regardless, I love that this exfoliator made my lips feel soft and smooth.

Cruelty Free? Yes, and vegan!

OFRA Cosmetics
Pop-up Palette + Blush Godet Refill

Quick Description & Claims:

The Pop-Up Palette is perfect for any OFRA magnetic makeup godet. The palette holds up to 48 grams of product and items can be continually tailored according to personal preference.

The Blush Godet offers strong pigment with a long-lasting effect in a fabulous pressed powder blush. Can be applied wet or dry.

Mini Product Review:

I’m so so so so glad I got this magnetic palette because I needed one so bad!! Now I can actually separate my shadows from a few other blushes that I have. I’m loving that we got a “two-for-one”Β  in this box for those of us who got this OFRA palette and blush refill.

Anyway, the palette is really sturdy and sleek. The majority of my single pan shadows fit in here so that’s amazing. The only thing I didn’t like is the way this palette opens, but other than that, I really like it.

I have way more shades than shown above (you’ll see next week and the week after), but I’m loving the amount of space I have here.

Apparently this is their “mini” palette and compared to a small Z-palette, this one is cheaper and you get WAY more space in this one. (Note: I own a “small” Z-palette and it only fits 9 shades and costs $12)

I’ve tried their blushes before so of course I like their formula, very buttery smooth. This shade look a bit similar to the one I already have, except this one is a bit more rosier with very slight shimmer. I believe this shade is called “Winter Rose” but I could be wrong (couldn’t find the actual shade name).

Anyway, I’m so glad I received this because it comes in handy!

Cruelty Free? Yes, Leaping Bunny certified!

Crown Brush
Pro Brush Trio

Quick Description & Claims:

Use this 3pc Pro Brush Trio to contour your face to perfection! The small brush can be used to conceal imperfections and highlight underneath the eyes. The medium sized brush can be used to sculpt the cheekbones and perimeter of the face. Finally, the large powder brush can be used to set everything in place.

Mini Product Review:

It’s no surprise that I love receiving brushes and last month I received not one but THREE! A trio!! Crown Brushes have been quickly becoming my favorite brushes and I find myself reaching for them quite often.

One thing I noticed is that these brushes look a lot like the Wet n Wild brushes, only a bit softer. If you can’t afford Crown Brushes, WnW is a fantastic alternative (I buy their brushes often). Anyway, the Crown brushes have lighter bristles while WnW ones look much pinker. The handles are the same and they have a small dip where your finger goes, so that’s neat.

Cruelty Free? It’s a grey area with this brand, they have some vegan brushes but others are made of animal hair.

Shimmer Veil

Quick Description & Claims:

These multi-use, shimmering creme colors are crease-proof enough for the boldest of eye looks and formulated with a weightless finish for a shimmering effect anywhere on the face. Suitable for all skin types.

Mini Product Review:

This shimmering creme is really nice, it’s very lightweight and the shimmering effect is INSANE! It’s such a gorgeous shade and it’s multi-use which means you can wear it anywhere on the face. I’ve only used it as an eyelid and lip topper and it looks so beautiful! I have yet to try it as a highlighting shade but I’ll have to experiment with it.

I really like that it doesn’t crease and it’s not sticky! And best of all, it’s suitable for all skin types!

    1. These ones are synthethic but they do have others with animal hair, so I feel in that sense they can’t be considered CF, but there’s a grey area with that brand because I believe they also have a vegan line of brushes LMAO
The shimmer veil is just too gorgeous! I’m going to find ways to use it!
