May 2018 Play! by Sephora Review

Heyy guys!!

I keep posting late without meaning to. I’ve been….incredibly busy and on days (such as today) when I thought I’d have the morning to myself, I had to leave the house and run errands for other people… It’s looking a lot like summer won’t be much of a vacation for me.. *sigh*

But anyway, today I have the May Play! by Sephora box review, and I don’t have much to say about these products, everything is pretty straight forward 🙂

Clementine California

Quick Description & Claims:

Inspired by a summer road trip, this bright, green scent has fruity notes with a warm base.

The Blend:

Fragrance Family: Floral
Top Notes: Star Anise
Middle Notes: California Clementine
Base Notes: Vetiver

Mini Product Review:

I’m still learning about fragrances and their ingredients, but one thing I do know for sure is what I like, and I like floral, citrusy scents. This one in particular is floral and in the vial, it smells a bit stronger than it truly is when applied onto the skin.

It is a bright, floral scent, but it’s also very subtle and I find it perfect for the summertime. I absolutely love it! This is a brand we keep getting samples from, and for once I don’t mind. These are by far some of my favorite ones and I wouldn’t mind getting more from this brand in the future.

Cruelty Free? No!

Caudalie
Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

sephoramay2018_caudalie

Quick Description & Claims:

A bestselling gel-cream that hydrates, soothes, and softens even the most sensitive skin. This intensily hydrating forumula contains organic grape water and patented grapeseed polyphenols that protect skin from free radicals. Plus, the unique texture changes from cream to gel upon skin contact for lightweight moisture.

Mini Product Review:

I don’t think I’ve ever tried any gel to cream moisturizers, but this one was such a treat! It felt soooo smooth when applied on the skin and literally, a little goes a long way. I used this mainly at night and I really loved how moisturized my skin felt the next morning.

The few times I tried it during the day, my skin felt AMAZING! I even applied makeup on top and it retained the moisture and evened out my dry-patches. This is one of those really lightweight formulas that I love during the summer and are just as effective when it’s winter.

Cruelty Free? No!

Hourglass
Veil Mineral Primer

sephoramay2018_hourglass

Quick Description & Claims:

A silky, oil-free primer that reduces the look of redness, pores, and lines. This weightless primer does so much more than make your makeup last! Its unique formula contains SPF 15 to protect from UV rays while it reduces redness, smooths your skin’s texture and repels water!

NO: Parabens, sulfates, phthalates

Mini Product Review:

Ok, so this felt just a little bit like a silicon primer but it didn’t. I wasn’t able to find the ingredients list to be sure, neither does Sephora nor Hourglass sites contain ingredients, for some weird reason?

Anyway, I really liked this product! It actually blurred my pores and it feels so silky smooth and not oily. I was surprised that it kept my t-zone from getting too oily.

I don’t think it did much for redness on my cheeks, but that kind of comes and goes for me. I also didn’t get to test its longevity and it’s claim that it “repels water”, so if anyone else got this product and you tested that out, let me know! 😉

Otherwise, good primer! 🙂

Cruelty Free? Yes!

Kat von D
Tattoo Liner in Trooper

sephoramay2018_kvd

Quick Description & Claims:

A waterproof liquid eyeliner with a superfine brush tip that goes on smooth. This satiny, smudgeproof liquid liner is a legend because it’s tattoo-needle-inspired tip that creates crisp, skip-free lines every time. Plus, it’s buildable, quickly-dry formula provides major pigment payoff.

Mini Product Review:

I really liked this eyeliner, it was so easy to create a wing and the tip was also pretty flexible. I love how thin the tip is, it literally felt SUPER easy to use and I’m considering buying the full size when I’m done with this one.

It usually has mixed reviews, but I liked it. I just didn’t really test for smudging or waterproof capabilties.

Cruelty Free? Yes!

OUAI
Wave Spray

sephoramay2018_ouai

Quick Description & Claims:

A lightwight texturizing spray that creates effortlessly undone waves. This spray is key to chic, beachy waves with minimal effort and maximum body. The insanely popular formula contains specialty rice protein to protect starnds from the sun and add major volume.

Mini Product Review:

At the initial spray, I immediately noticed the scent! It’s like perfume-scented but I didn’t like it. It does seem to go away after a while, though I could be wrong, my hair is so short that I can’t smell it myself lol.

It works fairly well and it does add texture and volume to my lifeless hair and I really like it. If only I could get past the scent….

Cruelty Free? Yes!

    1. It’s pricey but if you can splurge on it, then definitely get it. A lot of people really like it 🙂
And thank you so much, that means a lot! 🙂
And I have, I think I received a small sample squeeze bottle in my last Ipsy bag. I do like the hair masks I’ve tried because they have made a difference for my hair, and my hair tends to be very fussy.

  3. Great review! 🙌🏼 I love the Kat von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. I used to use it, but then I switched to Mac because they added a small glitter to their liquid eye liner that make your eyes more sparkly. xx

    1. That’s the thing I don’t like about many high end hair care. All the samples I’ve gotten from my Sephora box have been amazing but the scent is enough for me to say “No thank you”.
I hope you find something for you, I’m gonna be on the lookout for other products as well.
