New Year’s Resolutions — Second Quarter Update

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe we’re already halfway through the year. It’s kind of surreal how fast time has passed. But today I am doing my second quarter update and tell you all how I’ve been doing with my new year’s resolutions….

May was a hard month for me with stress and anxiety. It took me such a long time to come back from that, it’s ridiculous. For the past month and a half I’ve been trying to “come back”. Stress and anxiety have been getting in the way a lot lately, but I am managing it much better than before but it still brings me down a bit.

Anyway, depressing shit aside, I’m here to fill you in on how I’ve been doing with my goals because I really want to meet them. I plan on keeping you updated (for those who are interested) each quarter and hopefully inspire you to revisit your goals if you have given up on them already.


GOAL #1: Create a Routine

How am I doing? GREAT!

I published my “A Day in the Life” post (part of a collab) this month and you guys got to see our routine. I love it!! 🙂


GOAL #2: Exercise Every Day

How am I doing? NOT GOOD!

As I mentioned, coming back from my little mental breakdown from a month and a half ago has been hard and I recently have experienced moments where I completely breakdown for a few minutes and come back. But those moments, as short-lived as they are, affect me more than you know.

What can I do better? When I’m not feeling well emotionally, I cannot do anything physically. I lose complete motivation and then I have a negative mindset. I know that I will feel better when I work out but it’s hard to get back into that mindset that yes, I can do it. I don’t know how I plan on achieving this specific goal because I seem to pause a lot in between, but I’m working on something..


GOAL #3: Work on Cardio

How am I doing? NOT GOOD!

What can I do better? Well… Weather has been less than ideal. And honestly, I suck at running. But I recently revisited my bucket list and realized that I really, truthfully, would like to run or at least participate in a marathon. And Alex responded with “you have to train a lot”.. He’s right. I really want to give jogging a shot this summer. It took me a year to be able to run for 30 mins at 5 to 6 mph on the treadmill back in HS because my lungs have always sucked.. So I don’t have high hopes, but I’m trying it anyway. Fingers crossed the weather warms up a bit so I can work up a sweat.


GOAL #4: More Water & Veggies, Less Meat

How am I doing? GREAT!

Sometimes I forget to drink water but get back on it right away. Eating veggies has become my favorite thing! LOL


GOAL #5: Get Finances Back on Track

How am I doing? OK / GOOD

What can I do better? I’m doing everything right, I think. We’ve just had some things come up which is understandable. But I think we’re on the right track even though it’s looking like we’re digging a hole lol. I have an idea of writing up some personal finance blog post if you guys are interested in seeing how I manage my money? LOL.


GOAL #6: Dinner Dates (Weekly/Monthly)

I look forward to our dinner dates nearly every weekend. 🙂 And now I want to step it up a notch and try ONE new place once a month. 🙂 We’ll see if my dearest husband agrees..


GOAL #7: More Travel / Vacation

How am I doing? OK / GOOD

When I published my first quarter update, I was away on vacation in Seattle (read about it here and here). We haven’t done much since then in terms of traveling, but I am traveling across Oregon tomorrow with my brother to pick up my mother and sister. I’ll be sure to document it all and take lots of photos. Alex and I also have a few things planned for the summer, so the future looks bright lol. Get it? Cause it’s summer over here? Very sunny? No? Ok…


GOAL #8: More Sight-Seeing

How am I doing? OK / GOOD

What can I do better? Again, the weather sort of ruins many things because it’s too cloudy, or there are thunder storms or it starts raining or is cold af still (in June, may I remind you). Anyway.. aside from waiting for good weather, we’ve also been tremendously busy but we have been sight-seeing a few places here and there.

I recently wrote my summer bucket list (part of a collab), and I have listed activities I’d like to do this summer. 🙂


GOAL #9: More Vlogs / Lifestyle Posts on Blog

How am I doing? GREAT!

What can I do better? I know I’m lacking posts this month but that’s only because of the collab I just finished this week with Hunida and Tialla (read all those posts here). I have other ideas that I can’t wait to share, so you guys will definitely see a lot more of that from me.


GOAL 10: Read At Least One Book Monthly

How am I doing? GREAT!

I’ve been reading up to 3 books each month recently. I don’t have a goal for the year, but I will try to read as much as I can and try to beat that record next year LOL.


GOAL #11: Stress Less

How am I doing? NOT GOOD!

What can I do better? Again, haven’t been doing so well, stress and anxiety, blah blah, etc. BUT, I am learning how to cope and how to manage and picking my battles and Alex has been incredibly helpful and supportive even when I have been a complete bitch to him. I plan on seriously meditating every morning and night for at least 10 mins.


So how am I doing overall?

  • GREAT:  5 out of 11 goals — 45%
    • 1st Qtr: 54%
  • OK / GOOD: 3 out of 11 goals — 27%
    • 1st Qtr: 36%
  • NOT GOOD: 3 out of 11 goals — 27%
    • 1st Qtr: 9%

So obviously the goal is to reach these goals. It seems I’m not doing as well as the first quarter, but I really am feeling more ambitious and want to accomplish these goals, whatever it takes. I’m so determined to meet at least 70% of my goals (as in GREAT) before the next quarter. Wish me luck and I’ll be checking back with you guys in three months.

    Your goals sound amazing and you are doing great! Being motivated is definitely hard especially when you feel down and negative. I know once I start to feel negative it’s hard coming back from but I am trying to find ways and things to motivate me out of that mood. Lately reading positive lifting quotes has been helping. Good luck with the goals for the rest of the year! I would also love to see a finance post! I am always curious how others manage money 😂

    I think you’re doing really great, especially considering the amount of goals you set it’s get harder to focus and dedicate yourself to them as a year progresses and general life and it’s ups and downs get it the way. So well done! And how the hell are we in third quarter of the year!! 😳

    Aw Rossy, I am so proud of you! I know you have been struggling with your anxiety but despite all that you are still succeeding in so many areas, so you should feel so happy with yourself hun! Well done! I’m so happy you’ve been enjoying lots of dinner dates because I think out of all your goals, thats really one of the most valuable ones because it involves spending time with your loved ones. I hope you can start trying new places more often too! Exercise is so hard when you don’t feel motivated, I completely understand but hey, it’s not the end of the world that you haven’t been exercising so much. I’m sure you’ll get back into it. Good luck with jogging, even just a five minute jog is an achievement hun- its certainly more than I can do LOL! I would 100% reccommend meditating lovely, have you seen Agnes Vivarellie youtube videos? She’s got some great meditation videos! Xx

      Yea, I agree, spending times with our loved ones is so important because we end up taking them for granted.
      Oh gosh, exercising is the worst thing to start up again, I feel like I’m just failing over and over but I’m determined to start up again.
      I don’t think I’ve heard of her but I’ll be sure to look them up, maybe her videos will make me feel more at ease😁

    I love the way you organized this post. I always read other bucket list updates and hate them because they’re so messy and hard for me to understand lol.

    I think you could change your goal of working out everyday to maybe like twice a week and it may be more manageable and feel more like you are working towards your goals! Also, instead of running, there are other cardio things you could try! Like dancing videos or something might be more fun!

      Thanks so much! I try to make the layouts easy on the eyes so you can just scroll and browse whatever your interested in lol.
      Definitely, I think that setting it up everyday was a little bit too much, especially because I don’t take into consideration things that come up lol. I will try for two to three times a week. And yeah I can definitely try home cardio workout videos, those always seemed pretty fun and I’ll be building up some stamina for when I decide to jog outside for real lol.

          I have a few of ideas of how I want to go about writing my bucket list recap, I hope you like what I come up with lmao. But you’re right, when people copy and paste the list and strike through, you’re not really sure what they have done since they last posted lol.

    Making resolutions is easy, but sticking to them is hard.
    Considering that most people don’t even remember their New Year’s resolutions 2 weeks into the new year, you’re doing incredible!

    You can’t be 100% on track because, as you know, life gets in the way all the time. But again, you’re doing incredible! 😎

      No kidding! I’m really pushing myself this year because I’ve been one of those people who flakes on their goals a month into the year lol.
