July 2018 Play! by Sephora Review

Hii guyysss!

This week is flying by and I find myself saying that so often recently.. On the bright side, we’ve had a pretty good, chill week. I got a few things planned for the next few days, so hopefully I can make that happen and I’ll show you guys later πŸ˜‰

But for now, I just want to give you guys mini reviews of my July Sephora box. I know I technically haven’t done a review for my June Sephora box, but that’s because two products I’ve already tried from previous boxes, the perfume sample I didn’t like, the mascara will remain unopened until I go through the other ones I have, so that only leaves two products to review. I’ll review those products separately πŸ™‚

Anyway let’s get on with this πŸ™‚

Biossance
Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer

sephorajuly2018_biossance

Quick Description & Claims:

A hydrating gel that uses 100 percent plant-derived ingredients for brighter, balanced skin. This superlight moisturizer calms redness, minimizes the appearance of pores, and improves hydration for a dewy look. An ultra-gentle bonusβ€”it’s fragrance free.

Mini Product Review:

This moisturizer felt so great on my skin! My skin felt so hydrated and definitely brighter. I love that it’s fragrance free because sometimes smells do bother me. This moisturizer also does pretty well underneath makeup. πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to keep testing it to see its full potential.

Cruelty Free? Yes, and 100% vegan!!

Algenist
GENUIS Liquid Collagen

sephorajuly2018_algenist

Quick Description & Claims:

A vegan, collagen-based serum that visibly restores skin’s suppleness and resilience. Naturally sourced microalgae oil beads penetrate skin in an anti-aging formula that visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Mini Product Review:

Okay firstly, this product is VEGAN! Whaaaa?? The whole CF and selling in China is a bit confusing but that aside, this product was really good. I would have to use it for a lot longer than a week to see its benefits, but it all sounds really good.

I like how it felt on my face and the microalgae oil beads is genius. They dissolved into my skin pretty quickly and it didn’t make my face feel oily. I also love that the formula has anti-aging ingredients.

Cruelty Free? According to their site they’re CF, but they seem to sell in China, so it’s a bit complicated.. Algenist is apparently working with IIVS to eliminate required animal testing.

Korres
Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil

Quick Description & Claims:

An ultra-concentrated vitamin C face oil that reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The formula’s superpower: super Cβ€”it provides antioxidant protection against free radicals. Wild rose oil improves the look of fine lines, discoloration and texture.

Mini Product Review:

THIS OIL IS AMAZING! I know not everyone likes facial oils, but ever since I started using them, my skin has definitely improved. It doesn’t feel extremely oily and my skin feels very smooth when I apply it onto the skin. I will keep testing this out until I run out and decide if I want to buy the full size. πŸ™‚

Cruelty Free? Yes!

Tarte
Color Splash Lipstick β€” Rainforest of the Sea Collection in Salt Lyfe

sephorajuly2018_tarte

Quick Description & Claims:

A long-wear, full-coverage nude lipstick with a satin finish that hydrates and conditions. This ultra-creamy lipstick pairs premium pigment with antioxidant-rich algae and marine-flower extracts. Lips look visibly firmer, fuller, and smoother.

Mini Product Review:

The formula of this lipstick is out of this world. It’s a nice satin formula that is also hydrating, I love it! I also love how full coverage it is. The shade is really nice too but I can’t find the perfect eye look to go with it without it washing me out or looking like it doesn’t go with the look.

Cruelty Free? Yes!

  1. Wow thanks for sharing the box!!! I personally have salt lyfe and it looks way to pink than mauve, so yeaah it washes me out too. WHICH IS SUCH A PITY. I swatched it in the store and thought I found this amazing shade but on my lips it was just a completely different color ): Also, how are facial oils better for your face? I’m really curious because I’m thinking of using them as a moisturizer too!

    1. It really does pull more pinkish than mauve huh? So it’s not just me, I’m not crazy lol.
And for me personally facial oils have made my skin smoother, and depending on their ingredients they also help control my acne. A lot of them help hydrate my skin as well especially during the winter.

  2. I have nothing to say because you’ve already read what I think of all of these products in my post. πŸ˜‚ I did see that Algenist sends to Hong Kong but really tried to hide the fact on their website. MAC also is working towards & supporting eliminating all animal testing but they still sell to China too. What they really could do to help the cause is NOT sell to China in the first place.

    1. Lol yeah. A lot of great brands don’t sell in China and they still do really well over here. And I feel like a lot of brands just say they’re CF but because a lot of people don’t question whether they sell in China, they must think they really are. And that’s what sucks. They just look up if they’re CF and if the brand says yes they just say “good enough”.
