Ace Beaute Grandiose Palette Review + 6 Looks

Hello my dolls!

I miss blogging consistently, I feel like I’ve let you guys down somehow by being absent out of nowhere. Thanks to those of you who left sweet, kind comments and were genuinely concerned about us in my March BuJo post. All is well! ā¤

Anyway, I’m so excited about today because I’m finally reviewing this palette, I received it back in my November Boxycharm, so yes, it has taken me this long to try it, don’t drag me. I’ve had so much fun creating many looks for you guys last month, a lot of you really enjoyed seeing each and every one. Let’s get started, it’s a long one! šŸ™‚

You can watch my short video review, I do swatches in there too!

Product Description from Ace Beaute:

The Grandiose Palette features 8 colorsEach color has been carefully milled and pressed to provide the easiest application and the most excellent color pay.

Price: $24.99 USD

Packaging

The packaging of this palette has this beautiful gold design on the front, the back is only black. The palette did come in a sleeve that looked exactly the same. Unfortunately the product details are not on the palette itself, and I no longer have the sleeve to check if they’re listed on it. It’s too bad because not even the website has the pan size.

Anyway, I thought the entire cover/design would be embossed, but it’s only the letters that are like that. The palette is the standard cardboard with magnetic closure, it’s small, thin, lightweight, and perfect for travel in my opinion if these are your kind of shades.

When you open the palette, the design is pretty much the same. It does not include a mirror sadly, but I can live without it. The shades have their name right under neath which is nice, so you can become familiar with the shades.

Formula & Application

This palette comes with four shimmer and four bold matte shades. I agree that they are pigmented and easy to blend, and that stays consistent throughout. You can also feel how finely milled they are when you swatch them.

In my opinion, these shades are a DREAM! They are buttery smooth and super pigmented even with barely any product on your brush. Even though there is some kick back from the matte shades, I thought the formula was amazing! They are very easy to blend, they can be built up, and don’t have much fall out, except for the shimmers of course which I don’t mind since I always do my eyes before my base.

I’m shocked to say that the shimmers are my favorite because I love matte formulas and the mattes in this palette are bomb too. The shimmers were amazing in every aspectā€”they are creamy, reflective, and easy to work with! They applied easily; I didn’t struggle with application, they can be applied with a light hand for a subtle wash of color, or packed on for an intense pigment.

Color Story

So the palette has a pink/berry and kind of neutral theme going on. When I first opened the palette, I thought the colors looked beautiful but I was* surprised by the neutral shades. I wasn’t sure how they would wear with the pink/berry tones, but I was very excited  to find out and play with it!

I usually fuss about gold or bronze shades because it feels like every palette has them, but with these I didn’t mind because the color story is different than most neutral palettes, though calling this palette neutral would not be correct.

The brand made a great choice of putting these colors together; you get peachy ones, pink/berry, browns and golds. It’s the perfect romantic, everyday, night-out, bold palette. I think the shades are great togetherā€”every single shade compliments each other so well, and you can create an array of looks with only eight shades.

Shade Breakdown

The reason why I think this palette is amazing is because the brand really thought it through on what shade to add. You have a light shade to set, two that can be used as transition shades, a dark one for a smokey effect, and four different shimmers that range in color, so you don’t feel like you’re creating the same look twice.

* * *

Jasmine; shimmer champagne ā€” I love  it and it’s great for highlighting the inner corner and brow bone.

Clove; matte peach ā€” This one is very pigmented, easy to blend, and perfect as a transition shade. I used it a lot to diffuse Cinnamon.

Myrtle; shimmer copper ā€” I actually dig this shade. It has gold micro glitter, but it retains its copper color. I’ve come to find that some shades are overtaken by their gold undertones, and that’s one of the reasons copper shades aren’t my favorite.

Cinnamon; matte terracota ā€” What a beautiful shade! I like to use a light hand for a light wash of color, but I love that I can pack it on for more intensity.

Patchouli; matte cream ā€” This one is so buttery smooth, I love it! It’s great for setting eye primer, and I also found it to be great for blending the darker shades. It adds a softness/blur to the look when I use it to diffuse harsh lines.

Rose; bold shimmer fuchsia ā€” This shade is GORGEOUS! I can use it subtly or pack it on for more intensity. It does have pink micro glitter and it also has more fall out than others. I don’t think I’ve come across a pink shade that has been made well until this one.

Poppy; matte dark raspberry ā€” This is my favorite shade! It looks a bit powdery when swatched, and you do get some kickback when you dip your brush, but it applies and blends AMAZINGLY! I love it!

Primerose; shimmer gold ā€” I have too many gold shades but this one is my favorite in pigment and formula. It was so well made and I almost prefer this one to any other ones I have in other palettes.

Swatches

Seeing all the shades swatched together allowed me to visualize how well the shades go with one another and swatching them was what inspired me to create in the first place.

Looks:

I was inspired by this palette since the first time I swatched it. It sparked my creativity and I took the ball and ran with it. As most of you know, I created six looks throughout February, and I’m very proud of every single look. Also, my makeup skills have improved so that’s always a bonus.

Rose Petal

The first shade I knew I needed to try was Poppy, and oh my gosh! The shade was super gorgeous on the eyes! The rest of the shades I used really complimented it. For this look I went with a half cut-crease with the wet application technique and I really loved the way the look turned out.

Gilded Rose

For this look I went back to my usual technique and tried to create a semi-dramatic halo, but I think I went overboard with it. More than I meant to, at least. Still, the golden shade on the lid, Primerose, looks so appealing with the shade Poppy.

Cinnamon Rose

I used my usual technique for this look again because I wanted to create something a bit more subtle. I still wanted the look to have those raspberry tones, so I used Poppy on the crease. I like how pigmented the shades are regardless of which technique is used.

Anti-Valentine

This one was meant to be a recreation of Cinnamon Rose but with less use of Poppy, and it turned into a very neutral, subtle look. So interesting how less of one shade can make the look appear almost entirely different.

Peach Clove

This is the softest look out of all six, and I really love how wearable it is! It’s one of my favorite looks using this palette.

Pink Champagne

I liked creating looks with the wet application technique so I did that for this look too. I know I did a half cut-crease for Rose Petal and Peach Clove (kind of), I just want to keep practicing to get better. Anyway, I love how it turned out and the pop of pink gives it romantic vibes.

I thought this palette was amazing and I would love to see more from this brand! I haven’t been wowed by a palette since the Alamar Cosmetics RDC Vol. 1. I cannot wait to see what else Boxycharm surprises us with this year!

I want to know:
Which was your favorite makeup look?

  3. I truly have no complaints about this palette either. The color story is what made me to subscribe to Boxycharm in the first place. I agree with everything you said about it! & I love every single one of the looks you created but my #1 favorite is Peach Clove with Rose Petal coming in hot at #2!

    1. Love it!! I hope we get another palette as good as this one. Not looking forward to the morphe palette as much, for the simple fact that for December we got a huge one AND it was violet Voss. Well see which one I get and how good the formula is. I have been told time and time again that their mattes are not that good.

      1. I wonder if the Morphe palettes are going to be in the regular Boxy, too? I have successfully avoided all spoilers for this month & it’s been so hard with the delay LOL. But yeah I get what you mean, Violet Voss is super superior to Morphe. šŸ˜› I’ve heard bad things about the formula a lot, too!

        1. I have no clue. I haven’t really looked into what’s been in the boxes this month for the simple fact that I’m so pissed that my box is delayed lmao.
I would say that if people have the chance of getting the morphe palettes in regular boxes, then the luxe is not worth it. The luxe box is supposed to be almost exclusive, so for them to have all those products in regular ones would be a fail in my book. I’ll look into it and see what people have been getting in the regular ones. Though I think the morphe ones are only for luxe.

          1. Yeah honestly that’s surprising to me that the Morphe was only for Luxe considering the retail value is much lower than the Cover FX face palette. I thought it would’ve been the other way around. šŸ˜› I got 3 products in my box that were included in the Luxe.

          2. I only checked for the boxyluxe, if I saw correctly the 2nd box variation was a nail file instead of the polishes? So dumb lol
I dont think I’ve seen many boxycharm boxes as of lately
