Heyy dolls!
I’m trying to jump back into blogging! I have filmed like 10 videos for YouTube, some which will not be shown here, so make you subscribe if you want to keep up with my content over there.
Today’s blog post is another review of a product I received from Influenster about a month ago and have been testing ever since. It’s the NYM Clean Freak Tinted Dry Shampoo.
Disclosure: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
Watch a short review and a demo:

- Wash hands to remove any residue
PRO TIP: Allow product to briefly absorb before blending.
Size: 7 oz | Price: $5.99
Packaging
Visually, the packaging for this dry shampoo is the same as their original, but different in the sense that there’s less text on this one. This one looks appealing because there’s not much going on, it’s just a more updated version of the original one.
Other than that, the cap is the only thing that changes. This one is clear whereas the original is green. I’ve come to find that the claims are more or less the same.
Formula & Application
I was concerned at first and a bit skeptical that this would be different or that it wouldn’t work. A tinted dry shampoo is something I’ve never heard of. I’m happy to report that I didn’t notice any residue left on my hair. I think the fact that it’s tinted leaves little to no room for any sort of residue (except on your fingertips). This is not a temporary color or root touch-up, so don’t expect your hair to be “colored” with this dry shampoo.
This product seemed to absorb the oils from my hair just as fast as their original one. What I love about it is that I don’t have to wait a minute for the product to work before brushing my hair and styling it. I can spray, massage onto hair, style and go!
The tint will come off when you wash your hair, so I like that it easily comes off with a wash. I was also worried that this spray would drip the tint on my clothes or on my face, but luckily I didn’t have that problem. If that ever happens to you, just use water and soap to remove it.
One little problem that I noticed literally after I filmed my video for this review is that it doesn’t really work for day 3 hair. At least not for me. Not washing my hair on the third day is seriously pushing it for me, I never do that because my hair is just naturally oily, there’s just no way around it. And it’s not the products fault. It’s my hair but unfortunately I do have to count that as a con because that is my true experience with it. I did notice my hair recently started releasing more oils than before so I have to change up a few things, maybe I’ve been over-washing it.
Pros & Cons:
Pros:
- Mildly scented
- Tinted
- No white residue
- Absorbs oil & odor
- Spray & go!
- Cruelty-free
Cons:
- Scented (for those of you with sensitive noses)
- Same results as with their original one, so nothing new, just tinted
- Doesn’t work for me on the 3rd day and past that (my hair is too oily)
I was very pleased with the performance of this tinted dry shampoo, though to be honest, I didn’t find it that much different than their original, which I own and have been repurchasing over and over. I do think it’s unique to have a dry shampoo to match the color of your hair but the formula feels the same to me so I’m fine with using either one because they both work well.
What did you guys think? Would you buy this dry shampoo to try out?

Great review! ♥️ I would not buy it as day 3 is the day I usually use a dry shampoo. Thanks for sharing. xx

I’m really excited about this post! In the last Fab Fit Fun box I got there was Oribe “gold” mist dry shampoo, but it did not work at all. I’m totally going back to Not Your Mother’s once I run out & definitely gonna have to try this new version now! Thanks for the suggestion 🙂

That’s so great! You’ve tried NYM dry shampoo in the past then? Their original one is pretty good too. And now that you mention it, I never checked to see if they have other shades of tinted shampoo. I should check real quick.

Yes! It’s actually my go-to, but I figured I should use up the Oribe first before restocking! No other dry shampoos live up to it!

omg same hereee!! i’ve tried the living proof one, granted it was a sample, but it left white residue on my hair.. this one is inexpensive, AND it works!

I’ll have to update my blog post because I totally forgot to look that up, they only have medium (this one) and a dark one for their tinted dry shampoo. They do have the original as i mentioned, and a few others in their “naturals” line which are a bit more expensive. I don’t think I’ve tried that line of dry shampoo, but I bet they’re just as good as their original.

Oh my gosh I don’t even think I knew that was a thing?!?! SO cool!! I am going to look into this… I do tend to have some “white” around the roots when I’m on my second day of using it. That’s my hairs way of saying “hint hint, you probably should wash me”, lol .

I haven’t had much of a problem with white residue on my hair, not even a second day after using it. however, my hair becomes so unmanageable and very oily that I have to wash it anyway lol

Why do they tint it?

I honestly have no idea, but I can assume that its because they want to lessen that ashy, white residue that most dry shampoo have.

A tinted shampoo make so much sense for darker hair! If it doesn’t leave a residue anyway, however, it probably wouldn’t make a difference in the end though right? Honestly I have never really liked dry shampoo just because I think it leaves my hair feeling heavy and gritty. But maybe I’m using too much lol. 😉 I’m the same with oily hair–I really can’t go more than every other day with washing my hair.

Yeah exactly. I did think that because* it’s tinted, it won’t leave any residue that most people are usually concerned about.
Possibly? I know I use a lot. Then again my hair just gets really oily. I wish I could go on for longer..

I get it! Every time I get my hair cut, my stylist says that I shouldn’t wash my hair more than every three days but I really can’t go longer than every other day. It’s just too oily! -_-

Whoa that’s interesting that it’s tinted. I would have been worried about dripping the color, too, but so cool that it wasn’t an issue! I never have luck with dry shampoo. 😛 I had tried the original one of this before, I think.

Lucky me, though it can still happen to other people lol. And did you not like the original one? They also have one in their naturals line I think?
