March 2019 BoxyLuxe — Unboxing

Hello my dolls!

It got here late but at least I got it! Let’s dive into this box immediately, shall we?

Theme: la vie en rose

I really love the theme and it makes me think of spring a lot! It’s so pink and dreamy and I think the majority of the products fit into the theme.

Watch me unbox this month’s box:

This month we got 10 products instead of 9 so I think maybe the feedback from everyone made them reconsider? Who knows. This box is just getting started so I’m very excited to see how this box grows and improves this year.

As I did with my December BoxyLuxe, I do have a bigger/longer unboxing showcasing all the products and my thoughts on each one.

One more thing before we start: For December we got to choose one product in our box, but I never got an email for this box so I assume they didn’t do that this time around. I actually kind of liked the customization aspect of it, even if it was one product. We’ll see if they bring it back next time or not..

Boxycharm Traincase

Retail Price: $20.00 USD

Mine was a bit damaged because the paper they put on it to protect it  (ironic right?) kind of got stuck to it in some areas and I also noticed that where it was folded, it suffered a bit of damage that I immediately noticed. While I don’t care much for the damage, can’t really control that, I think the bag itself is cute and spacious enough. I love the holographic look to it and the rose gold color. Will come in handy for travel.

Exclusive Faux Mink Gaia Lashes

Retail Price: $24.99 USD

I almost squealed when I saw these! So many Youtuber beauty vloggers talk endlessly about these or use them a LOT, and I was always interested in trying them. I read the product description and apparently you can wear these up to 20 times so I was stoked to get these!

They look so nice and fluttery which are so my kind of falsies, I just hope they’re not super long to the point where they look WAY unnatural on me because my real lashes are so short and thin and almost non-existent.

Lift Off Purifying and Brightening Peel Off Mask

Retail Price: $34.00 USD

This was one of the products I wasn’t sure of at first but the more I saw it and heard of it from other people, the more intrigued I became. Kathleen Lights got it in her box and from her I learned the mistake of applying a thin layer. So when I eventually I use it, I’ll be sure to lay it on thick! She also experienced redness after using it so if that happens to me too, I know to pass it along to my mom and sis.

Ultimate Lipstick Love in Petal

Retail Price: $24.00 USD

I’ve never tried anything from Becca, so I’m excited to try a lipstick. While I do feel like I see this kind of shade everywhere in almost every sub box, after decluttering a third of my lipsticks, I’m almost positive I don’t have an exact shade like this. It smelled subtly sweet, and not overly obnoxious. I’m excited to try it because apparently it’s moisturizing, silky and long-wearing.

Eyebrow Cushion

Retail Price: $40.00 USD

I wasn’t sure about this product when I saw the spoilers. Right now, eyebrow pencils are really working for me, and I feel like they have been for the past two years or so. A liquid brow doesn’t sound like my kind of thing so I don’t even know if I want to try it. If I try it, I’ll pass it along to my mom or sis and if I keep it unopened, I’ll be able to put it in my giveaway stash.. I’m just unsure about it, that’s all.. I need to do more research on it.

Confidence in a Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream

Retail Price: $48.00 USD

I’m so so stoked to try this cream and after reading the description it sounds amazing! I feel as though I’ve mentioned this time and time again, but I’m so focused on skincare as of lately and always appreciate when products have anti-aging properties because it is NEVER TOO EARLY to start using these kinds of products in our skincare regimen.

Anyway, I tried a small amount in the back of my hand in my video and it felt really smooth and almost silky. It does felt a bit thicker than other moisturizers I’ve used, so I wonder if I will still be able to use this during the summer. If it’s too thick for warmer weather, I will hold off on using it until colder weather arrives.

O’Donna and Modern Love 2-piece Nail Polish Set

Retail Price: $20.00 USD

As someone who doesn’t get her nails done often, I was really glad to have gotten this set of nail polishes. I love that they are free from harsh chemicals because my nails have become brittle from washing my hands like a hundred times a day. So I’ve taken steps in taking care of my nails so I’m gravitating more towards these kinds of polishes.

I cannot wait to try them, I hope I like them! I like that they’re mauvey-pinky kind of shades. I hope to like the shimmery/glittery one, because I tend to go for solid colors more often. I know, I’m so boring!

Moda Brushes
Powder and Soft Glow Kit

Retail Price: $29.99 USD

I LOVE getting brushes!! So yes, so happy that they decided to add more brushes in their BoxyLuxe. I always assumed that these were more in the cheaper side, but the price is a bit higher than I initially imagined. And for good reason, they’re so soft and feel like good quality brushes! Of course that’s yet to be seen when I start washing them..

I used to hate getting face brushes but now I love them and use them literally all the time! I think the powder brush will be great for blush, I like big fluffy brushes for that. The soft glow might be great for highlighting.

Perfector Face Palette in Light – Medium

Retail Price: $45.00 USD

Another product I wasn’t sure about when I saw the spoilers. And that’s because I don’t reach for face palettes as often as I’d like to. I just have my favorite blushes and highlighters as singles and I tend to forget that I even have those palettes. I think travel-wise, I would rather take two small things than one big thing that I may only use two things out of? Does that make sense?

Anyway, aside from not knowing whether I want to keep this or save for a giveaway, I do think that the palette looks pretty. I may use most of it, except maybe the finishing powder because it looks like it has micro glitter and I’m not sure I like that FOR a finishing powder. I also probably wouldn’t use the blush because pink shades are just not for me, I prefer peachy ones.

Morphe
15-Shade Artistry Palette in Day Slayer

Retail Price: $16.00 USD

The one you have all been waiting for! Probably? Maybe not, if you’re not subbed to Boxycharm. But to those who saw the spoilers know there were four palettes. I got the Day Slayer, and while it wasn’t my first choice, I’m GLAD I got this one instead.

It’s a neutral palette and I know some people don’t like them much anymore, but I think for me, this is a good palette to try from Morphe. I’ve always wanted to try one of their palettes, but I wanted a full matte palette and after asking several people how good their mattes were, almost every single person said, they kind of sucked!

I think what Morphe has going for them is their shimmers. Those seem to be loved more than their mattes. So yes, a neutral, everyday palette is the perfect one for me to try from them. I can use it daily to test and I won’t have to try to come up with creative looks. I can just do my makeup the way I normally do. If I do run into some problems with it, maybe I’ll experiment with new techniques and see if that works better.

I’m quite happy with pretty much all the products. I do have to think about whether I’m keeping the eyebrow cushion and the face palette. But other than those two, I know I might end up liking the rest of them. Hopefully the Morphe palette is good.

The total value of this box was $301.98 which was a bit less than December’s box. I think the reason for that is that the palette we got last box was about $40 whereas this one was $16, among a lot of other products exceeding $30 for a full size.

I am still very excited to see what Boxycharm is planning for June. It should be interesting to see whether the boxes get better or worse, higher or lower overall value, and my satisfaction with each box as well as each product.
