I finally have my April BuJo ready for you! I asked you guys if you preferred video only or blog post and the majority of you said blog post form. I will still do videos for it because some of you really enjoy watching them and I also love filming them and putting the videos together. That way in the future, say a year from now, I can look back and see my progress.
You can watch me ink my BuJo, or keep scrolling to see the finished pages!
April 2019 Cover Page & Calendar
So I chose to do a tulip theme this month because it’s the month when tulips start to bloom and I try my best to go every April to the Tulip Festival when it commences. Also, tulips are by far my favorite kind of flowers.
I looked for lots of How To’s for this theme so I could get them to look like tulips. My drawing skills still suck and some look a bit off, but I did the best I could. I’m actually quite happy with the way this month’s pages turned out.
You also might have noticed that I didn’t start with a quote and that my calendar fits into one page. I did this to see if I truly needed a two spread calendar, which to be honest, I like better because this looks very plain. I will most likely go back to the two page spread next month.
Budget & Expense Tracker
This spread will probably not change by a lot. The layout is the same because it works and I like it. I do like the space I have left to draw whatever I want. Keeping with the tulip theme, I decided to draw a tulip bouquet.
I actually got this idea from a Pin I saw, it was a real photo so I tried my best to recreate it as a drawing. I think it looks pretty close to the actual photo, and it’s probably one of my favorite drawings this month.
Love the way it turned out even though I probably could have drawn a few more tulips. I just didn’t want it to look super crowded in there.
Habit / Health / Fitness Trackers
I combined all my trackers into one spread. I don’t like that it doesn’t flow once I get to the health and fitness page (left) because of the horizontal tulips. However, I like the horizontal running graphs for tracking exercise and sleep, they really do come in handy to see when it peaks, etc.
I don’t want to write in the numbers for every single tracker so I’m going to start doing these kinds of boxes and fill in the squares with color instead. It’s much easier and less time consuming and it saves my hand from cramping.
I added floating petals as a homage to cherry blossoms because they are blooming right now and I thought it went well with this theme because spring is finally here! I cannot wait to go see them in the waterfront and take photos to share with you!
Another new thing I’m trying out this month is a one-week spread. I normally do one week per page, but I was starting to get bored and it lacked the space for doodles. So I decided I wanted to give this a shot and see how I like it.
To be honest, I like the look of this better and I like that I have enough space to add a doodle or two. I’m not sure, however, if I will necessarily need a spread this big every single month. I’m sure I will come up with something else next month to try and hopefully I can figure out soon what works best for me.
So that’s this month’s journal. I didn’t have any quotes this month and I also didn’t have a brain dump page. I didn’t get much use out of last month’s and most of what I’ve written down in previous months I still am working on, so I do not have any new ideas. If I do, I can go back to those spreads and write them in.
But anyway, this is a shorter month than most, and that’s only because I’ve combined spreads and took some out. I know I just showed one week spread, but I will be drawing the rest as the month goes and will be sure to show you all on IG if they end up turning out differently.
I’d love to know what you guys think of this month’s BuJo.
I also would love to know what you all have planned for April?
