Packaging

This palette came in a sleeve that looks exactly like the palette itself. It definitely has the masquerade theme going all over it, it looks nice. The palette comes in a standard cardboard packaging with magnetic closure. It’s small and sleek and in my opinion it would be perfect for on-the-go if you don’t feel like taking many products with you. It also comes with a small rectangular mirror.

Formula & Application

The formula is pretty amazing. I was actually a bit impressed with this palette because a past palette in collab with Boxycharm was such a letdown and it gave me a really bad impression on this brand. I was not expecting much when I received it, so when I swatched it I saw the potential.

The shades were really blendable and highly pigmented. I didn’t have a hard time blending the eyeshadows and I also liked that I was able to build them up to make them more intense. In my opinion, the blushes are so much more pigmented so I do suggest you use a light hand with those.

Quick Shade Breakdown

I wasn’t into the color story as much and I was seriously concerned with the fact that it had just ONE matte shade. I wasn’t sure what to do with just that, but I did my best and used only this palette for the looks below. It also took me a while to use this palette because I didn’t feel inspired by it, but once I used it I came up with a few ideas to try.

I don’t want to spend too much time going through the shades one by one, but I at least do want to hit the highlights of each, if possible.

  • Twilight; a peach highlight
  • Hidden Secret; a coral red shimmer blush
  • Enchantment; an apricot highlight
  • Reveal; a ginger shimmer blush

While the blushes are super pigmented, I wasn’t a huge fan of the shimmer in them. In fact, I tend to stay away from shimmery blushes because they tend to enhance the texture I have on my cheeks even more. And even though I don’t have large pores, they do accentuate that too. I tried to go easy on the blushes but the real winner for me is the Twilight highlight.

  • Exposed; a silver shimmer
  • Sneak Peek; a cocoa matte
  • Showtime; a turquoise shimmer
  • Mask Off; a musk green shimmer
  • Disguise; an imperial purple shimmer
  • 12 AM; a charcoal shimmer

The shimmer eyeshadows are probably my favorite in this palette, they’re so bold and pigmented and super gorgeous. The blue and purple are probably my top faves, with the green one close behind, the only thing I didn’t like about the green is that it looked a bit golden on the eyes rather than the green that it appears to be on the pan.

Pros & Cons:

Pros:

  • Small size for on-the-go
  • Complements all skin tones & eye colors
  • Highly pigmented and blendable formulas
  • For beginners and pros alike
  • Buttery smooth formulas
  • 100% cruelty free
  • Vegan
  • Paraben & gluten free

Cons:

  • One matte shade, too many shimmers
  • Shimmery blushes are not my thing
  • The palette was good but didn’t wow me — color story is meh to me

Looks:

Look #1: Festive Holiday Green:

The first look I did was inspired by the green shade, Mask Off. As I mentioned, on the eyes it looks more gold whereas the swatch slightly more green. So I wasn’t too fond of that but I think the look came out pretty okay.

Look #2: Blue-Gray Cut-Crease

Still practicing those cut-creases, I know lol. Just trying to get better. I wanted to use the shades Showtime & 12AM together, somehow, and this is what I came up with. Not totally in love it, I had a different idea in mind, but maybe I just wasn’t feeling as inspired by it, as I keep mentioning, lol.

The palette is nice as is the formula. It’s a good palette, not necessarily my favorite, but only because I have my own preferences. If I hadn’t thought up of a festive holiday look, I probably would have taken much longer to use it, and even then, it still took me a while to pick it up again. So who knows, this might be one of those palettes that I will eventually de-stash from my collection if I don’t reach for it from here on out.

What did you guys think? Is this your kind of palette or pass?

  1. Ooh I have never heard of this brand, but I love the packaging of the palette. Rossy, that Festive Holiday look may be one of my favourites ever that you’ve done! I love it 😍😍 I like the sound of this palette, so I’d definitely be interested to hear if you do use more of it or not x

    1. Really? I wonder if they’re only known in the US then. They appear a lot in Boxycharm, haven’t seen them anywhere else yet.
Thanks so much! That’s one of the first looks in that style and I love it I’m looking forward to practicing those skills with their Festival palette I just got in my Boxycharm lol

      1. It’s possible. I honestly never heard of them before, or maybe they’re an online thing? I don’t know!
Oooh I’m so excited to see those looks you’re going to share here on the blog. Honestly Rossy, you are such a talented makeup artist and that look is one of my faves you’ve ever done!

    1. Thank you! 🙂 I still struggle some time to time with smokey eyes, they’re definitely not my strength when it comes to makeup but I”m still working on it 🙂 I’m so flattered that you love how I do my makeup though! thank you! T_T

        1. awh haha!! with more practice you’ll get really good I promise! I probably could have made a bigger improvement if I had the time but I’m proud of how far I’ve come since I started this blog. 🙂

    1. It’s interesting you say that because apparently their made for all skin tones, but I’m not sure if they were just referring to the blushes and highlighters or the entire palette? Idk.

    1. That’s my favorite too. The second look didn’t turn out the way I initially hoped, oh well lol. Exactly! Thank you! I know I’m not the only one who thinks “too many shimmers” despite how gorgeous they are

  3. I’m glad to hear that the formula was good! I was so put off by the Boxycharm PUR palette that I never wanted to try anything from the brand again. I guess I misjudged them and should maybe give them another chance. My favourite look is the green one, that olive shade is stunning!

    1. OMG SAMEEEE! XD That’s probably one of the reasons I wasn’t looking forward to using this palette, because of that other one. I will forever compare that one to the rest that I use from them. Now that I’ve tried this one I have a feeling that the other was just a really bad batch because some people really liked theirs or had no problem with it. Idk. Their Festival palette that I got in my April Boxycharm is also really freaking good! I was impressed. I should have my review for that one this week or next.
That’s everyone else’s fave look, and mine too! The second one didn’t turn out like I had envisioned it. LOL They can’t be all winners I guess haha

      1. I read an April favourites recently of someone who included that palette on her list and I was like HOW!? What alternate dimension did her palette come out of lol
But you’re right I think it had to have been quality issues, and I’m glad that this masquerade palette has proved it wrong. I’ll definitely check out your Festival palette review!

  4. You know, the package is wow-ing me more than the color story! But I am glad you were able to work with the formulas & that they weren’t so bad as your other PUR experience. 😛 Both looks you created are fun! I think the first one is my favorite though.
