August 2019 Boxycharm Review

Heyy dolls!

I had to stay up extra late last night because I had finished writing up my post.. Was editing my photos and when I was ready to upload my photos and schedule it, the whole post was fucking GONE. Literally nothing I wrote was saved.. I was soooo pissed.. I don’t know if it’s my laptop, WP or what. I was not happy. AT ALL.

So anyway, with that off my chest, I want to just get on with this. If you guys missed my September BoxyLuxe last week, make sure to go and see what I received. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on my August box.

Wander Beauty
Glow Ahead Illuminating Oil

boxycharm_aug2019_wanderbeauty

Quick Description & Claims:

Our on-the-go skincare essential is a multitasking beauty elixir that instantly hydrates and absorbs into the skin revealing a bouncy, youthful complexion, no matter your skin type. This lightweight, yet powerful blend, is formulated to deeply nourish and prime the skin before makeup and to refresh while on-the-go. The innovative spill-proof Wander Dropper is always travel-ready, giving you total control one drop at a time. Our blend of age-defying oils helps to restore skin’s moisture barrier while giving you a youthful glow.

Mini Product Review:

I wasn’t sure what to think about this illuminating oil, because it can be hard to know for sure if it’s doing something on its own, if it’s other products you’re using, or a combination of all of them. Anyway, I did like this oil with continued use. I do like how lightweight it feels, the dropper makes it easy to control the amount that is dispensed.

The oil also has micro glitter/shimmer so it looks really nice on the skin, it gives me a “glow from within” glow, in my opinion. I like to wear it alone or underneath my makeup. Again, I cannot claim that it does brighten the skin, but I like that it does feel like it nourishes my skin.

Cruelty Free? Yes, they claim so on their site. However, they are not on Cruelty Free Kitty’s list.

Ace Beaute
Glimmer Shadow Duo in Cotton Candy

boxycharm_aug2019_acebeaute

Quick Description & Claims:

High pigmented soft shadows with a creamy texture specifically designed for the ultimate color pay-off. These shadows provide bold color in one single swipe without fallout, creasing or fading.

Mini Product Review:

I’m only keeping one (Cotton Candy), the other I gave away already. I really like the texture of this shadow, so bouncy and soft and definitely pigmented. I did not have  trouble with it creasing or fading, but it did still have some fallout which was a bit hard to clean under my eyes.

Kathleen Lights compared these to ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadows, so I guess they’re considered dupes, however they’re a bit more expensive. I would obviously tell you to go for the CP ones solely for the price, but these are kind of nice as well.

Cruelty Free? Yes, they claim so on their site. Cruelty Free Kitty does not have them on her list, but I think it may be because they’re not a well-known brand yet. Also, they no longer carry mink lashes in order to make their brand completely CF.

Becca
Hydra-Mist & Refresh Powder

boxycharm_aug2019_becca

Quick Description & Claims:

This weightless powder sets and refreshes makeup for a silky smooth, invisible finish. Formulated with 50 percent water and glycerin, this powder creates a mist-like sensation on the skin, for a seamless finish and comfortable feel.

Mini Product Review:

This powder is AMAZE BALLS! Oh my gosh! I was so blown away with it. It really does feel mist-like when applied on the skin with either a sponge or a brush. I mainly use this under my eyes because I like how it makes my under eyes look and it also doesn’t crease on me. Probably the best loose powder I’ve ever tried! And I am NOT exaggerating!

Cruelty Free? Yes!

Steve Laurent
Lip Liner in Chic

boxycharm_aug2019_stevelaurent

Quick Description & Claims:

Re-shape, re-size & re-define your pout. This lip pencil is total magic. It smooths over your lip line for a seamless and flawless finish. Completely waterproof, so no transferring or bleeding all day long. Lasts up to 7 hours.

Mini Product Review:

I would have liked this lip liner more if it was creamier, but it wasn’t. It’s not a bad lip liner, it does what it says. It stayed on my lips all day, no bleeding, no transferring, it was really nice. I don’t know if it’s worth the $15 because I’ve found drugstore lip liners that are comparable to this. I guess in the end, the price depends on how you feel about it based on your own experience. Regardless of what I think about the price, I really like it.

Cruelty Free? Unknown? They claim they are on their site, but Cruelty Free Kitty does not have them on her list.

So that’s it you guys! I am hoping to post one more post this week, possibly Friday. So stay tuned for that so you don’t miss it. Right now I’m getting ready to head to the library with my kiddo to meet his classmates and maybe we’ll make a Target run right after.

What are your plans for the day??

  1. Ooh I’m for sure going to have to try that Becca loose powder then 😍 I haven’t used their brand before but this sounds fab! Also the illuminating oil sounds nice too, the packaging is so cute. I’m loving all the pink going on here, hehe! Thanks for sharing Rossy, looking forward to Friday’s post!

    1. Its amazing! You totally should. And I only know Becca for the Champagne Pop highlighter which I think was in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, a US beauty Youtuber. I dont really care for her though lmao.
I like the illuminating oil and how it makes my skin look. So glowy lol and yes I agree all the pink packaging for this box was super cool.
      Thanks for reading doll!

  2. I still haven’t tired the Illuminating Oil but I’m definitely going to give it a shot now. I’d love to see if it makes any difference for me, I’m a big fan of the ‘glow from within’ look. 😀 Sadly, the Ace Beaute shadows creased & were hard to build up for me… I’ll try again with a primer underneath or something though. The Cotton Candy shade you got is so cute! Lol, again, that powder was magical. Definitely the best I’ve ever tried.

Hope you had fun at the library & Target!! ❤

    1. Well since it’s a skincare product, it may take weeks until you see a difference, if any. Of course you won’t know if it’s that particular product or another you’re using as well. Either way, I like the way it looks on my skin when I wear it that specific day.
I did! The library went well, and I was able to buy some stuff from Target. Cannot wait to do a haul post and vid! LOL

    1. Thank you! A friend of mine reported that it might be drying her under eyes out, so that’s one thing to look out for. A different friend also told me that they sell a travel size, just in case you don’t want to commit to buying the full size, which is more expensive
