Morphe 15D Day Slayer Artistry Palette Review & Swatches + 3 Looks

Hello my dolls!

I’m sorry I’ve been gone for a while. As I briefly mentioned in my empties post, I have been dealing with lots of anxiety and what seems like mild depression.. I went into NYE’s feeling like this and on Jan. 1st, I got sick and continue to be sick now.

I experience different symptoms daily so I’m not sure if everything is connected, but I am feeling better now and if some symptoms persist, well then…I’ll have to go to a doctor I guess.. But anyway, we are here to finally talk about the Morphe palette.

Description from Morphe:

These daytime baes are here to slay, Morphe Babe. With a mirrored palette and 15 crazy-creamy, powerfully pigmented, beyond-blendable matte and shimmer eyeshadows, you’re ready for nonstop glam from am to pm.

BENEFITS

  • Wearable shades for daytime (and playtime)
  • Creamy, blendable, and super pigmented
  • Mix and match for nonstop action

Size / Price : 15  pans (Net Wt. 22.5 g / 0.79 oz) / $16

Packaging & Cost Breakdown

The palette is very simple and sleek. It’s all black and feels heavier than most as it’s made of plastic. It also has a large mirror and all the shade names are right underneath each shade. I’m not a huge fan of plastic packaging because I feel like they’re more likely to break if they are dropped. That aside, I think it’s small enough to have on-the-go or for traveling, just be sure to pack it snug.

The price of this palette is $16.00 USD, it contains 15 shades, and has a net weight of 22.5 grams. That brings the cost per pan to $1.07 USD and cost per gram to $0.71 USD which is a great price in my opinion.

Formula & Application

I’m going to cut right to the chase. Morphe promises creamy, blendable, and super pigmented shadows, but I have to disagree a bit with that statement. Yes all the shades are creamy when swatched, and that’s about all I agree with. Aside from that, I think that this color story is nice, even if it is warm. The shade range is great and there aren’t two shades that look alike.

I had to build up the lighter matte shades (Natural, In the Crease, Forever, and Upbeat) a lot for them to show up on my skin, but I also had to be careful and do it evenly so it wouldn’t look patchy or uneven. I did have a hard time with the darker matte shades, (Dessert, Epic, and Sweet) as they looked muddy and patchy when applied.

For super pigmented shadows, I didn’t expect having to work extra hard to make them work. They only look highly pigmented when swatched but that doesn’t translate the same way when applying with brushes. Most people have told me again and again that Morphe’s mattes are not the best, and I agree. I found them to be inconsistent.

As for the shimmers, yes they’re great and lovely. However, a dry brush won’t pick up as much product and you’ll be stuck trying to build them up so much if you use that method. I recommend using your finger or a wet brush, that seemed to work much better. The shimmers are more pigmented when applied wet.

All in all, as inexpensive as their palettes are, I have to agree with everyone else who has said their mattes are not great. I suggest you buy palettes for their shimmers and not for their mattes. I personally don’t recommend this palette due to its inconsistency and their so-called “highly pigmented” shades which are not all that pigmented..

I hope this review has helped some of you decide whether this palette is worth it to you or not. I tried really hard to make this palette work for me, but I thought it was too much work putting in that extra effort. Great palettes should be easy to use.

  1. $16 is still a big price to pay for eyeshadows that don’t perform good. I am disappointed when some $5 don’t work so good… If the palette doesn’t perform good, don’t cut the slack. Also, you mentioned that are good when applied with fingers. Well, that shouldn’t be the case. They themselves have so many brushes and promote brush application so it is unacceptable.
Happy New Year and hope you feel better soon 🙂

    1. Well, to be fair, I got this palette in a boxycharm so I got my money’s worth with the rest of the products. But yes I agree. I never wanted to buy one of their palettes because A LOT of people said the mattes were not great. Most of the people that raved about them had a discount code and well…cant trust that lol.
I guess I wanted to be as biased as possible when writing this review considering I already had my suspicions before trying it, I was just trying to be fair and give it a chance lol.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I feel loads better by now. Happy new year to you as well! xx

  2. Oh my gosh, so I’m going through the same weird sickness thing with different symptoms every day. I started with a cold on Christmas Eve and by the following Monday I came down with a fever & chills. Later in the week I became congested and by Sunday I had pink eye in both eyes. And Now I have a dreadful cough that won’t go away! UGH! Being sick is the worst!

I hope you start feeling better soon, there’s nothing worse than being sick during or right after the holidays.

It’s too bad that this palette didn’t work out for you. When I read your review I have flashbacks to my Morphe Boss Mood Palette, it was so hard to work with. The looks you did turned out really nice, but it’s not worth it if the palette is frustrating to use!

    1. Oh gosh that’s awful! Today is literally the first day that I woke up with no congestion, no sore throat, etc. And it only took like 11 days for me to get better lmao. Apparently something is going around because I’m not the only one. Hope you have healed completely!!
Ah yeah, I remember your review. I was crushed because I really really wanted the Boss Mood palette too. I guess I’m stuck looking for a palette or singles with the shades I want lol.

      1. I’m glad you’re feeling better though! I’m still sick, my cough hasn’t got any better 🙁 I’m going to the doctor again tomorrow because it’s been 3 weeks of this. I hope they have some answers!
It’s really too bad about the palette 😕

        1. I still have this weird, lingering cough, like I feel like there is something on my throat but it’s a dry cough lol. Nothing too bad but I keep hearing that EVERYONE is getting sick and for longer periods too so something is definitely going around. Hope you are feeling much much better now!
But yeah, not buying any Morphe palettes with my own money.. Will look elsewhere lol

  3. Wish you a fast recovery. On another note, I absolutely love the monochrome copper look you’ve created. It’s a shame the pallet wasn’t as good as expected. Feels like the shades they put out are quite repetitive.

    1. Thanks so much!! xx
That’s honestly my favorite look too lol. It came out looking better than the rest of the looks. And I agree whole heartedly! I’ve looked at their palettes many times and the majority are warm toned palettes, wish they had more colored palettes but the sad reality is that their mattes are not the greatest so I probably wouldn’t buy them anyway lol.

  4. Very sorry to hear you’ve been sick lately! There is so much illness going around right now though. One of my best friends’ whole family was sick with a stomach virus. My mom got a horrible upper respiratory virus and has been sick for almost a week, etc, etc. I hope you feel better very soon!

How horrible about the Morphe palette. But I know we’ve had this conversation before though, Morphe is extremely hit-and-miss in my opinion. My mom has a few of their smaller palettes and she really likes them. I’ve experienced both good and bad, especially with their matte shadows as you point out.

    1. Its alright I’m feeling so much better now, thank you! I’m so ready to get back into things.
And that’s awful that your bf and mom were also sick for a long time. Hopefully they are much much better by now.
Yeah, I expected the rumors about the mattes to be not true, but felt let down when they turned out to be true lol. Oh well. Dont think I’ll buy any of their palettes in the future, and ill just look elsewhere instead.

  5. Wow yeah, the price is really affordable. I actually thought Morphe was more expensive. The formula really doesn’t seem worth it though. I wouldn’t want to use my finger or a wet brush all the time & the mattes just sound like an absolute hassle. So sorry this was such a disappointment. Thank you for your honest review, Rossy! I used to want to try this brand but, not really anymore.

& I hope you’re feeling 100% better now, at least from the sickness. ♡ I know you’re still working on the anxiety/mild depression & if there’s anything more I can do, please, let me know. Never hesitate to text, email, comment, whatever, okay?! ♡ love you!

    1. It seems like they would be but I’m glad they’re not. Honestly the formula isn’t the best and they should never raise the price LOL.
Exactly, thank you! Palettes should be versatile and since its a warm toned palette, everyone should be able to use it, easily without a problem.
I’m not too upset about this palette because I received it in a BoxyLuxe box, so the other products that came with it made up for this. I used to think I was missing out on this brand but nope. 😀
I am feeling so much better now in both sickness and anxiety. And since we’ve been talking about my anxiety recently, I think you deserve to know that today was the first day since after Thanksgiving or so that I’m feeling super great about life 😀 I feel so much better than when the year started 😀 love ya and thanks for helping! xx

      1. Lol yeah, maybe they should just stick to making their brushes. I wonder if the Jeffree palette is any better quality than their base ones. Luckily this came in a Luxe with so many other great products!

Yay, Rossy!! ❤ I am so happy to hear that you're feeling much, much better now & that I could help a little. ❤ love ya, too!!!!

        1. You know, I’m not even sure how great their brushes are either?? A friend of mine who used to blog said they were good but she never reviewed brushes lol. And I know some people do have certain ones as staples.
Omg yeah! I thought about getting it but…I have a lot of palettes I need to get through and just last night I was looking at jeffree’s stories on IG, and he mentioned that there’s another “blood sugar” palette coming next month!! I already own both of them, blood sugar and blue blood, I heard rumors about a green palette but idk!! I just wanna see it already!! Lololpl
Thank you lots!! You helped a LOT, give yourself more credit than that 😁

          1. Hmm… interesting to know about the brushes. 😛 It does seem like a lot of people use certain staple ones.

& oh my gosh, I can’t wait to see Jeffree’s new palette!!!! How exciting if you’ll be getting this 3rd one, too!!!! 😀 😀

            ❤ ❤ *hugs!!!*
