LOOKBOOK — 5 Looks Using Beautycounter Velvet Eyeshadow Palette

Heyy loves!

As you all know, I got a new voxbox last month and this time it was makeup! I was so giddy and I couldn’t wait to play with the products because I normally don’t get to test makeup for Influenster. So naturally, I have created a lookbook for you, because it is* a palette.

Here is the gorgeous palette and the lipstick that came in the box:

And now let’s get into this lookbook, I am so excited to show you all what I’ve been working on lately. Some of my best neutral-work I’ve done to date!

Look #1: Raw Sienna

The name of this look is derived from a specific shade, Sienna. Couldn’t help myself, plus it’s one of my favorite shades in this entire palette. Love the neutrality of this look. Missed these neutral shades greatly.

Shades Used: Suede, Sienna, Sable, Copper
Lips: Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick in Lily

FUN FACT: Sienna, in it’s natural state is yellowish brown and is called raw sienna. When heated, it becomes a reddish brown and is called burnt sienna.

This look is so gorgeous and every shade I used is great and blended effortlessly. I love how it looks mildly smokey. I haven’t done a neutral smokey eye in a long time.

* * *

Look #2: Champagne Cinnamon

I was not able to get good quality photos of this look, I tried my best. My phone and lighting were not cooperating that day. Anyway.. this look is subtle and very wearable.

Shades Used: Suede, Ivory, Cinnamon, Sahara
Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick in Lily

DID YOU KNOW? Champagne Cinnamon is actually the name of an exotic ball python species native to West and Central Africa.

I took advantage and did my makeup when the sun was out to capture the gorgeous shades in this palette during golden hour. They truly shine on their own, no need to edit any of these photos! ❤

* * *

Look #3: Burgundy Terracotta

This is the only look in which I went all out for. I used falsies and did a different style of eyeliner than I normally do. I had to go all out for at least one look and I think I made the right choice. ❤

Shades Used: Burnished, Suede, Sienna, Ivory
Falsies: Wet n Wild Shutter Shock Lashes
Lips: Dose of Colors Liquid Matte Lipstick in Nude Mood

What do you think of the Arabian eyeliner? First attempt at it and I love it!

I really loved this look. It was warm with burgundy tones and yet slightly smokey? The lashes and eyeliner add a bit of drama to it, but the whole look is still subtle and very wearable, especially with the lip. It’s giving me fall vibes!!

* * *

Look #4: Golden Penny

I instantly felt like ‘Golden Penny’ should be the name of this look—for one of the prettiest shades in the palette. When I googled that I found that golden pennies are actually a thing! That being said, the name is perfect for this look because of the gold and copper tones.

Shades Used: Sienna, Suede, Sable, Penny, Ivory
Lips: Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick in Lily

COOL SCIENCE EXPERIMENT: You can make gold pennies by dipping them in a zinc and sodium hydroxide solution and heating the zinc covered penny. When heated, the copper and zinc atoms mix and turn ‘gold’ in color! (Use caution if doing this!!)

I cannot get over how great this looks! Even without falsies it looks fantastic! It was so hard to narrow down the best photos! The gradient from gold to copper with the winged out eyeshadow adds something extra to this look that made me feel like it didn’t need eyeliner. I’m glad I left it as is, I think eyeliner would have ruined it! What do you think??

* * *

Look #5: Desert Sand

Lastly, I have the simplest look out of all of them and it looks so pretty!

Shades Used: Suede, Sahara, Ivory
Lips: Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick in Lily

FUN FACT: The Sahara desert used to be a lush region with many plants and animals.

I love how light this look is. It is so wearable for everyday as it has a mild neutral brown tone. I also love the inner corners using the shade Ivory, which adds some brightness to the whole look. I am also loving the sheer lipstick I’ve used in most of the looks. Cannot wait to tell you all about it!

I hope you enjoyed this lookbook and the fun facts I brought along this time, lol. I was up one night and felt creative with the names, and couldn’t help but google the names to see if there was something out there like it. My night-time writing is creative, but weird.. I know…

Anyway, since the first time I used this palette I was kind of blown away and couldn’t wait to keep using it. This palette has changed my mind about a few things, which I will tell you all about when I end up reviewing it in the next few weeks.

Have a great week dolls and I’ll see ya in my next post! ❤

  1. So I’ve never heard of this brand before, but I want to know more! Your eyeshadow looks amazing, it’s blended perfectly. I LOVE the fun science facts with each look!! Are you going to be doing that more often?

My favourite looks are Golden Penny, & Burgundy Terracotta, but they’re all stunning. The Arabian Eyeliner looks so cool!

    1. so do i! they sound amazing 😀 and after trying these products I cannot wait to check out more stuff from them 🙂
and thanks so much!! 🙂 blending out the shades was so effortless 🙂
and thank you! i wasn’t sure if the fun facts would be something people would be into, so i’m glad you liked them 🙂 it would be fun to do fun facts like that so long as they seem relatable to the look or the name of the look, otherwise it would seem like i’m throwing information out there for no reason LOL
those are my fave looks too 😀 ❤ thanks for stopping by xx

  2. Okay I’m obsessed. I’m always so happy when you do a lookbook Rossy but I simply love how you’ve included the fun facts and stuff in this post, it’s so original and i just love this post and you!!!

Raw Sienna is a gorgeous look and I think the lipstick goes perfectly with the eyeshadow, this is definitely one of my favourite looks everything ties in perfectly. Gorgeous girl and i just love the eyeshadow shades, so pretty.

That golden hour photo for Champagne Cinnamon is perfect, unreal.

AND DAMN GIRL. Burgundy Terracotta is my favourite you are looking smoking!! Ah I’m obsessed you are so beautiful. I love this look and I didn’t realise that style of liner was called Arabian but I’m obsessed. I’ve been trying to achieve that look recently but your attempt is just flawless, how was this your first go and can you teach me please?! It’s incredible. I’m gonna have to look up a tutorial or something especially now I know the name hehe.

I love Golden Penny too (the name reminds me of a chocolate sweet from a selection tub hehe), you’re right the gradient from the gold to the copper is incredible. You talented Queen I LOVE this look!

Dessert Sand is so pretty, your eyes are STUNNING.

Love this post so much doll, love ya!

    1. aww you’re the second person who points out the fun facts i’ve added 🙂 i’m so glad they were a hit haha i’ll definitely think of doing something like that again 🙂

i agree that the eyeshadow and raw sienna match perfectly 😀
i wish i would have taken a better photo of champagne cinnamon because it was actually really pretty lol
haha thanks loveee!!! xx everyone really seemed to like the eyeliner on that one and frankly so do i! ;D i’ve just been practicing regular eyeliner for years, and now that i can quickly do it, i have a steadier hand so that helped a bit. i did have to take my time with it too, like very lightly doing it and doing the smallest stroke at a time. if i would have attempted it the way i normally do winged liner i would have ruined it no doubt. perhaps i got lucky with this one lol
haha i love that golden penny is a chocolate over there 😀 it totally does sound like it would be 🙂
thanks so much for your lovely comments ily xx

      1. Yes please do please do, loved it so much. So fun original and creative ❤

Champagne Cinnamon is gorgeous, don't worry, the pictures look great!
& seriously, best eyeliner ever it's such a LOOK! You are so talented & beautiful Rossy! ❤

What kind of eyeliner did you use? I use a pen liquid liner like a felt, obviously with a thin tip! Wondered if you used the same for the Arabian liner?

Of course, I'm always so happy when I see your lookbooks hun & all your posts are so amazing & well done. Lots of love to you hope you're keeping well xx

        1. I stopped using felt tip pens for eyeliner years ago when I discovered the nyx matte liquid liner, I felt like the pens were not giving me the flexibility I needed and the one I have seems much better. Perhaps it’s a matter of preference but I do prefer the brush like ones over pens with felt tips

Thanks so much for your lovely comment as always and so sorry it has taken me such a long time to reply.

  3. I have not touched makeup one single time since I’ve been in lockdown but, girl, you are inspiring me!!! I need to create some looks ASAP.

The first look is flawless. It’s so perfectly blended & deeply pigmented. I’m super into the neutral yet smoky effect! Love love love the falsies & my gosh, that Arabian eyeliner! Your first attempt?! Wow! I could never lol.

Totally agreed that Golden Penny looks fab without the liner. The gold sparkly shade is to die for & your lippie color looks so good on you!

I would definitely love to try this brand sometime!!

    1. awh man! i’ve been on and off with makeup, some days i just feel too tired to bother and other days i just dont have time. this weekend i was supposed to but i kind of had a little spat with Alex so that kind of ruined it for me lol. i am hoping to start up again tomorrow so i will need to go to sleep early tonight to wake up early BUT…. i also want to work on my blog…. BUT…. i don’t wanna stay up too late either ugh this sucks haha

ooohh the first look!!! i adore it!! i could not believe my eyes when i was finished with the look and i also could not believe how easy it was for me to create a look with the palette i was blown away.

i actually dont love the falsies that much, they are the WnW ones. i loved them at first but now that i’ve tried better ones, I just use these when i know im gonna take my makeup off (some days i have the time to do two looks, lol) and yes, the Arabian eyeliner was in my first attempt, but keep in mind that i’ve had years of practice doing winged liner so my hand is not as shaky and i did have tons of patience that day, it took longer than i expected to be honest, i was working so slowly because i didn’t want to ruin the whole look haha

omg i looooooove golden penny, definitely my favorite look out of them all, i usually dont care for golden shades but i’m here for this one haha the lippie is also by the brand, its in the shade lily which is both gorgeous and comfortable. i almost want another lippie !!!

you should try this brand, its expensive but i can totally see why, the formula is amazing!
my friend invited me to some IG account because her friend works for this brand, so she does giveaways and all that. i will have to ask her how much stuff costs and if she can give me some kind of discount and if so, i will definitely try to get one for you too LOL

      1. Lol the struggles of having so much to do but so little time! I decided I’ll for sure be creating a little makeup look tomorrow. I’m itching to!

Ah well, the falsies look good on you but, there are so many different kinds out there so it makes sense there’s better ones out there. 🙂 All your patience with the Arabian eyeliner paid off extremely well! It’s seriously perfection!

I would love to try this brand, for sure! I’m jealous Influenster didn’t choose me lol.

        1. I finally did my makeup today but a very simple look. Finally trying out the Violet Voss essentials palette I got last year in a boxyluxe haha. I’m hoping to use it everyday this week to compile looks for a lookbook and hopefully try another palette next week lol
I used the same falsies again today and I hate that I have to trim them, otherwise they poke the inner corners of my eyes. I know many people trim even the high end ones but I find those easier to trim than these cheaper ones lol.

          Liked by 1 person

          1. I did mine yesterday, too! 🙂 I am always doing simple looks so no difference there for me lol. I remember when you got the VV palette! Can’t wait to see what you come up with using it. 🙂

I thought all falsies were meant to be trimmed!

            Liked by 1 person

          2. I did use it but I wasnt feeling super inspired while using it? I almost feel like I did very basic looks, but so far I’ve used all the shades so I’m hoping to try it one more time and create something more striking and bold.
Yeah most falsies can be trimmed but I have found a few where I didnt need to do that. But the more pricier ones are much easier to trim.
