Fashion Friday in Black & White — Comfort in Quarantine

Hello all!

I haven’t done a fashion post in a very long time. In fact, I ever hardly do them. But lately I have been inspired by a few fellow bloggers and instagrammers, mainly Kate from Live in the Nautical.

She is so bubbly and I love how fearless she is to just get out there and do photoshoots on her own with her tripod. I wish I had the guts to do what she does, and that’s why I think she’s amazing and inspiring. I am still too awkward to do photoshoots outside so I wanted to give it a try at home. Perfect time to try!

Since it’s my first fashion post in a very long time, I thought I could start off easy and plain by showing you my favorite outfit during quarantine. Oregon weather tends to be rainy, cold and cloudy in the spring, so I’ve been wearing warmer clothes.

I got these joggers from Ross and the Pusheen hoodie from Hot Topic before we were ordered to stay home. I got the joggers for our trip to Vegas so I could be comfy in the airplane, but I never imagined I would love them so much to the point where I would be wearing them ALL the time.

My Converse are currently my go-to pair even though they’re not as comfortable to walk around in. However, I love wearing them for a little while. And since my hoodie is an ivory white, and my joggers grey, these grey Converse seemed to pair perfectly with this outfit.

I meant to show you these photos in color but I took a few in black and white and liked those better. My outfit doesn’t really have any color anyway, and there is something about black and white photos that look great.

I typically don’t do fashion posts because my style is not what you’d call trendy, and I’m not really sure people would like my style? I don’t know if that makes sense. But if you guys like these posts, and don’t care about my clothes, I’d love to do a few more.

Besides makeup, dressing up is another way I express myself and sharing it with you regardless if it’s trendy or not, would be such a fun thing for me to do. I think it would also push me out of my comfort zone by having to take photos either on my own here at home, or outside in some location.

This photoshoot was so fun, you wouldn’t believe how long it took me to clean up my kitchen just to clear it out again! Let me know if you guys want to see more posts like this. I would love to do more new things around here to keep my motivation up.

I got some random questions for you to start up a conversation:

  1. If you had to work but didn’t need the money, what would you choose to do?
  2. What is something you learned in the last week?

Have an amazing weekend loves! ❤ xx

I’d love to do life coaching or counselling and definitely instagram and blogging as a career. I love blogging and also anything that incorporates helping others and adding a sparkle!

Erm what have I learned in the last week? I don’t even know lol I’ve learnt a new outdoors breathing technique and that Pisces rules the feet LOL. What about you hun? X

    1. Thank you! I hope to one day be able to go out like her haha.
You are right, this outfit is* comfy, I’m living in this haha. And okay! I’ll try to put some outfits together and take more photos 😀
Life coaching sounds like something you would be great at 😀😀😀 I say do that like a little side business or something. I would love to have blogging as my career but have no idea where to even begin with that nor do I have any helpful resources to offer haha
This week I learned….bananas are high in carbs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      1. You will!!!
This outfit looks perfect, chic and comfy. And yay, I’m so excited to see the looks you put together.
Thank you so much hun! I’ve just enrolled in a course so I’m excited to see where this takes me. And you would / are amazing as a blogger Rossy. Every post you put out is such high quality and so professional. There are some really great posts that you might find useful – I’ll send them over on Instagram.
OMG yes they are haha, isn’t that why they’re great for energy? Like they’re slow carbs so they release slowly, meaning the energy you benefit from the banana lasts longer than say something which you eat, get energy from then burn out after 5 mins right? This just from the top of my head, LOL.

        1. I haven’t had the chance to put anything together but I really should. Maybe tomorrow, it’s been sunny enough that lighting is great even indoors so I might attempt a summer outfit tomorrow 😀 wish me luck lol
something like that? xD i don’t eat according to pre/post workouts but I really should. I think I would benefit from a diet like that much better. Or I should more than what I already do.

  2. Super cute photos! I love the last one of you doing the peace sign 😍
    Comfy clothes are the best!

If I could work in any industry I’d definitely want to do something with music, working with artists, being a backing vocalist or even something behind the scenes. I’d also love to do something related to makeup 😀

As for what I’ve learnt in the past week, I’ve learnt more about flavour combinations when it comes to food and what goes together. My brother sent my mum and I a box from HelloFresh and we’ve made a couple of new meals 🙂

    1. aw thank you so much 🙂 comfy clothes are my fave 😀
working in music sounds like it would be super fun, honestly 🙂
oh gosh cooking is such an in-depth skill! there is so much to learn about cooking! 🙂 and how cool that you got to try hellofresh, i still haven’t LOL

  3. Cordelia.

That is literally the perfect quarantine outfit haha! I think I would want to go be a screenwriter or something, telling stories in any form! What about you? I learnt that the USSR actually had an anti-religion stance! Have a lovely weekend Rossy!

    1. thank you 🙂
and a screenwriter?? that is sooo cool! what genre is your favorite and/or most interested in?
Well, I guess I have learned something new from you, that is such an interesting fact.
As for me, in terms of jobs, that’s a hard one LOL. I love cars so maybe a mechanic for the fun of it and for the knowledge to do work on my own cars. I mean, we kind of already do it, but there are some things that cannot be done in my driveway LOL

      1. Cordelia.

I definitely love shows that make the characters its central plot because there is nothing more interesting to me than playing and exploring the human psyche as opposed to making some transformer michael bay type movie. Really? Do you do mechanic side jobs right now? I didn’t know you loved Cars! Would your dream be to have your own garage?

        Liked by 2 people

        1. yesss! me too!! i need to see the characters for who they are, i want to see them vulnerable, relatable (if possible), i want to see them grow LOL
and no, we just work on our own cars, when i graduated HS i was going to move to california for a mechanic program, but life happened for me and i didn’t go LOL
i would honestly love to have my own garage but at the same time, i feel like something like that would get old soon, i would have to be there from open to close.

  4. You look so cozy, and I love the vibe of these photos! There’s something that seems so timeless and classical about black and white pictures. I’d say you look confident enough to pose outside but I know what you mean.

It does feel a little awkward taking pictures outside of your home, especially when it’s in a crowded location. I’m sure there are many people sharing your style as well! It seems like they get overshadowed by the bigger and “trendier” people that share their styles that they end up blending in together. This looked like a fun mini shoot and I definitely enjoy seeing more of your style!

    1. trust me it is* a cozy outfit 😀 and thank you 🙂
I guess you’re right, maybe there are more people but the trendier ones are far more popular. It’s one of the reasons I kind of hate the materialistic / high end / expensive lifestyle LOL nobody needs the latest trendy blouse or new clothes from this new season. It’s just so sad that people stop wearing clothes from “last season”. I don’t get it. lol but that’s just me, I’m sure many don’t feel like that xD
thank you so much! 🙂 i will try to come up with more outfits 🙂

      Liked by 2 people

      1. YES, I’m with you! No one needs the “on trend” clothes and I see a lot of similar styles and none have really stuck out to me. I wear stuff that’s like 5+ years old and I wouldn’t even recognize anything that’s considered last season versus now!

Oh yay, can’t wait for more styles in the future now that it’s summer too! 🙂 Although, I’m not for sure how the weather varies with you. Here it has been in the 90s and 80s, way too hot for me to enjoy, haha.

        1. LOL omg I have clothes that are over 5 years old too! 😀 I keep so many of my clothes until they no longer fit xD

Here the weather has been weird. It has been raining on and off and partially cloudy but a bit cold still for June. :/
Today was the first day in a while that felt nice and cool with the sun out and mostly clear skies. LOL

          Liked by 2 people

          1. Same, no reason to get rid of clothing that you can still wear! Haha. The weather there sounds a little like here. It’s been raining off and on too but it’s been muggy, yuck. I hope you’ve had clear skies since the last reply! I haven’t been outside because the heat is gross to be out in, haha.

  5. I love that all the photos are in black & white! We really do have a similar sense of style. This is something I’d wear on a daily basis in the winter. 🙂 Def would love to see more fashion posts from you, Rossy!

    1. If I *had* to work but, money didn’t matter? Why do we have to work then? LOL jk. I’d still choose my current profession. 😉

    2. I have learned this week… nothing much besides how to play the new Sims expansion. 🤣

    Liked by 2 people

    1. I’d have to wear more layers for winter because this wont do haha. But thats so cool that you and I have a similar style 😁
I will try to come up with more ootd’s, I was supposed to last week but never got around to it lol.

Funny that you mention that. I had a co worker at macys once whose husband was financially well off, and there was no need for her to work. She worked part time there because she liked it. 🤗 glad to know you do too.

      1. Yeah! It would be enough for the winters in Las Vegas but in Minnesota, you’d need ten more layers plus, a big winter coat.

Looking forward to more OOTD’s from you!

😀 I do love my job! I have realized just how much now that I’ve not been able to go, too. 😦

    1. Thanks doll! =3
You and everyone else haha. I was thinking how badly this post was going to do but the outpouring support from everyone to do more is definitely inspiring me to go for it 🙂
OOhhh jersey dresses look so comfy! I want one!

This outfit looks sooo good on you. I always loved fashion so with or without money I would for sure want to work in the fashion industry. That is why I started my blog, as a way to start my career. Hope you are having a beautiful day 🙂

    1. Thanks so much 🙂
I’ve been slowly getting into fashion these past few years, not fully mind you, but I do enjoy seeing what other people wear and getting inspo from everyone and fitting it into my own style 🙂 fashion is just so much fun 😀
