Product Empties — April to June 2021

Hey dolls!

I am sorry in advance because this post is a bit longer than I meant to make it. Therefore, these are not speed reviews but more like mini/in-depth reviews.

Let’s not waste time and get started, because your time is valuable. 🙂

Haircare

Not Your Mother’s Whip It Up Cream Styling Mousse — I love their mousse because it’s so lightweight, smells amazing, and gives my naturally wavy hair those defined waves I love without needing heat styling. I do have to be careful and not apply too much because it will* weigh my hair down or not form any waves at all. It’s a struggle sometimes when I’m in a hurry but it’s a struggle I’m willing to put up with considering it’s easy and best for on-the-go.

Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray — As with the mousse, this sea salt spray helps me out with defining my waves without heat styling, and it is also a lightweight product so if I go overboard by accident, no problem!

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Tinted Dry Shampoo — Can you tell I love this brand? lol. I do, however, this was the first product that I was disappointed with. At first I liked it but the more I used it the less I liked it. Because it’s tinted, you will get your fingers tinted lol. It worked well but I don’t care for the tint. Better off with their regular dry shampoo.

Miscellaneous / Mixed

Shugar Soapworks Oatmeal & Verbena Soap — Don’t remember where I picked up this soap but I loved it and it made my skin feel moisturized and hydrated and didn’t leave a waxy film. I believe this brand is CF but not sure.

Earth Therapeutics Complexion Face Brush — I repurchase this face brush all the time. I know there are better ones (mechanical) out there, but I’m fine with doing the work myself LOL.

Idole Lancome Eau De Parfum Spray (sample) — Loved this perfume sample. I didn’t think I would like it as much, because I normally don’t care for the big name fragrances but whooa! I need to get myself a full bottle of this because I went through it so quickly.

A’PIEU Real Big Yogurt One Bottle Blueberry for Balancing — I got several of these masks when I was in Vegas and I finally used the last one(?). It is scented, so be careful if you have sensitive skin. It was really nice, easy to apply, didn’t move, fit was fine, and there was loads of serum!

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Wipes — Loved these wipes. I actually would only use half and it was more than enough. Hands down, the best makeup removing wipes I have ever used. However, I am trying to be more environmentally conscious so as good as they are, I may not purchase. They are nice to have on lazy days, or for traveling though.

Skincare – Cleanse & Tone

Glamglow GentleBubble Gentle Conditioning Cleanser — A great cleanser that doesn’t foam up too much or strip your skin. It felt amazing and smooth, and among one of my favorite textures and formula.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Keep Your Balance Toner — Decent toner. Felt more like water, and felt hydrating.  Worth a try as it is fairly affordable.

Formula 10.0.6 Picture Perfect Day Daily Moisturizer with SPF15 — It wasn’t the best moisturizer with SPF. Left me feeling greasy, but I guess that’s every SPF moisturizer? Wouldn’t repurchase but they have other amazing products, so don’t sleep on this brand.

Dr. Brandt Clean Biotic pH Balanced Yogurt Cleanser with Chlorophyll — I really liked how different this cleanser was from everything else that is on the market. It didn’t foam up but it still left my skin feeling squeaky clean, hydrated, and soft. Would love to have this in my shelf again.

Skincare – Serum & Creams

Dr. Bronner’s Naked Organic Lip Balm — Hands down one of my favorite formulas of lip balm. I have bought several more in different “flavor”. Highly recommend.

Physician’s Formula Skin Booster Vitamin Shot Brightening Serum — I really liked this serum and I noticed a difference in how my skin felt and looked after long-term use, however the brand is no longer CF so I have to find a new one.

Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream — Really loved this eye cream. My skin looked brighter and my under eye circles didn’t look as dark as they used to. I wish it was more affordable because it is so good!

Bliss Bright Idea Vitamin C Pro Collagen Brighten & Firm Moisturizer — Got this in a voxbox from Influenster, and really liked how lightweight it felt. I love anything with vitamin C and good for your skin ingredients, in this case, collagen.

Makeup

tarte Big Ego Mascara — Didn’t care for this mascara as much. It dried up fairly quickly too. Maybe I waited too long to use it. Didn’t make my lashes look voluminous or lengthy.

Covergirl Ultra Fine Brow Pencil in 710 Soft Brown — Really liked the formula of this brow pencil, but this shade was too warm. It’s too bad they only have a handful of shades.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Ultra Precise Brow Pencil in Brunette(?) — I don’t remember the shade, but I think it was a close match. It’s affordable and it comes close to my favorite, NYX Micro Brow, but still misses the mark for me.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Makeup Mist & Set — Love this setting spray and have gone through 4 at this point. Affordable and it works for me.

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer — It doesn’t apply as smoothly as other primers, meaning I have to work quickly with this because it starts sinking into the skin QUICK! It’s a weird texture that I’m having a hard time describing, completely different than the silicone kind, but man does it work! I would love a full size of this. It worked so well with my Milk Makeup Skin Tint.

Cowshed Cow Herb Hand Cream — Talked about this hand cream already. Liked it.

Makeup – Declutter

CoverFX Blurring Primer — I liked this primer initially, but I guess I took too long to use it. It does a nice job at blurring pores and makeup applies smoothly over it. It played well with my skincare too.

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Wand Concealer (x2) — I used to really like these concealers but they changed the formula and now it feels drier and applies a bit cakey on me. Not to mention it oxidizes a lot, so it’s best to get a shade or two below what you normally would get.

Have you tried any of the products above?

  1. I purchased a bottle of the Idole perfume earlier this year, it’s such a gorgeous scent! Such a shame the formula of the NYX concealer changed, I hate when products are reformulated and it’s not for the better 😦

  2. I love Not Your Mother’s brand too! I use their dry shampoo religiously. Also, I am really looking for a good primer and none seem to work well for me- do you have a favorite? Figured I would ask the expert 🙂

    1. Me too!! I’m always stocked up on their dry shampoo, I should try a different brand but it works for me so I don’t need to try another I feel like lol.

And face primer? Depends what you’re looking for? Do you need a mattifying one? Hydrating one? A silicone? Silicone free? Do you want one that will blur your pores (normally those are silicone).

        1. If you’re wanting a CF one, try either e.l.f. cosmetics or nyx cosmetics.
          I’ll list them for you;

Elf blurring primer serum OR prep and blur stick OR poreless putty primer
          Nyx cosmetics pore filler.
Maybelline baby skin instant pore eraser (tried it but it made me oily, i have oily skin too)

          More expensive ones are;

          Hourglass veil mineral primer
          Benefit Porefessional primer
CoverFX blurring primer (recently emptied mine, was great)

One thing to keep in mind, if you have oily/combo skin, anything with silicone may not work and will make you even more oilier, or if they work, i highly recommend a setting powder to keep the oils in control. thats the only way they work for me.

other than that, some high end primers will work really well. if you go to sephora try asking for samples, i’m not sure if they are still doing that or not but worth a shot before you buy a full sized one
