Review — Clearer Skin with Derma-e

Clearer skin with Derma-e? You bet!

I have stepped up my skincare routine because I’ve had a breakout that lasted months and it left my skin with dark spots and acne scars. I’m still breaking out, but I have added two more products to my skincare routine that have helped keep my breakouts to a minimum.

The holidays and everyday stress wreaked havoc on my skin. I wanted to start the year with fresh, healthy skin and that’s exactly what I’m getting!

The Products:

  • Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask
  • Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

These products are so good together as well as alone.

Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

dermae_scrub1

Product Description from Packaging:

Your daily detox delight.

This gentle exfoliant lifts away pollutants and impurities, promoting a fresh and healthy radiance.

Marine algae extracts deliver healthy skin hydration and help to protect skin from everyday toxins. Activated charcoal works with apricot seed Powder to remove micropollutants for a softer and smoother appearance.

First Impressions:

I like that it can be used everyday. It definitely made my skin feel refreshed, clean, and smooth.

Formula:

It’s smooth and feels nice on the skin but I recommend using gentle circular motions if you’re going to use this everyday. This is still a scrub, and if rubbed too harshly, you can end up damaging your skin which will cause you (your skin) more harm than good.

Results:

After using this scrub and patting my face dry, my skin immediately felt refreshed. It was smooth to the touch and for once I felt that a scrub truly worked! It exfoliated my skin and cleansed even deep down in my pores.

I started to see results as soon as the next day. I was shocked that a product could work so quickly, even for a first time user. I used this product every other day until my skin cleared (which was within one week and a half). I tend to grab this product whenever I start noticing that I’m breaking out and my skin clears right up much faster than with other products.

Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask

Product Descfription from Packaging:

It’s purely magnetic.

This dual-action, deep detox mask purges pores of toxins then gently exfoliates for fresh, glowing skin.

First Impressions:

This formula was very soft and it also went on smoothly on my skin. I could feel it working!

Formula:

This charcoal mask is the first I have tried and I’m glad it’s my first. I couldn’t have asked for a better formula. All you need is a light layer, making sure to avoid the eye and lip area. This mask dried pretty quickly, you only have to wait 1-5 mins. You then wet your fingertips and rub the mask in gentle, circular motions to activate the charcoal.

Results:

It was such a fun mask to use and I loved it. My skin felt fresh, rejuvenated, cleansed and soft. I made sure to use this twice a week and my skin cleared fast! I’m pretty sure it will keep my skin pretty clear even if it’s used once a week. I loved how gentle this mask felt and my skin felt super smooth after rinsing. The smoothness lasted through the next day which I thought was nice.

  1. You always give a nice thorough review…I haven’t ever tried any Derma-E products before but I feel like I should. My skin is so prone to break outs (sesh, you’d think that by 27 my skin would be done with the breakouts…but nope) I definitely could use some good cleansers that really cleans out my pores, I’m assuming that’s my problem. What is the pricing on these babies!

    1. Thank you! 🙂
Ah yeah, adult acne, lol. Still get it often as well. And these products are pricey but worth it. The scrub is about $15 for 4oz at Ulta. The charcoal mask is around $20 for about 1.7oz. You can find them both at Ulta. I honestly can’t tell you which product to try first because they both work equally the same. And the scrub doesn’t have to be used daily. I use it when I start noticing big break outs so it all clears at the same time. So then, I guess maybe the scrub only? LOL. You can get some Lush fresh face masks too.

      1. I love the sound of the charcoal mask. I use a charcoal based face wash right now and I definitely love the outcome of it. I bet the mask would do my skin good. I’m gonna go search for it on my next ulta trip!

    1. I love Derma-e because they have several lines for each skin type and other skincare concerns (acne, anti-aging, etc.).
You can find both of these on the Derma-e website (link under About Brand, don’t worry not an affiliate link) or at Ulta. The scrub is $15.50 and the mask $19.50 🙂

  2. I haven’t tried any Derma E products, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I love charcoal masks so I need to check that one out! My chin stays broken out no matter what I do so maybe these products will help

    1. You should definitely try it then! Honestly, this product has actually worked to clear my skin faster than my alba botanica acne scrub which I love! I hope you do try it, Derma-e has amazing skincare products and they work! 😊 and I’m with you there, I get breakouts on my chin far more often due to hormones.
