I know I have been lacking in posts this month, it’s been a bit hectic and with the holidays it’s been even harder to get some free time to work on the blog. I did want to try my hardest to post my very first BoxyLuxe unboxing before the month/year ends because I wanted to show you guys what I got in it.
It did take a while to arrive but I’m okay with that because it is the busiest time of the year, so I didn’t care as long as I received it. I got it right before Christmas which was fantastic, it was like an extra gift from me to me 🙂 but anyway, let’s get started and let me tell you all about this box!
What is BoxyLuxe and how much does it cost?
BoxyLuxe is not a monthly subscription. You get this box every quarter, March, June, September, and December. You will get LUXURY products ranging from lifestyle to skincare and beauty, with each box valued at over $250.
The cost of this box is an additional $28.99 to your existing ($21) subscription (a total of $49.99 each quarter), and you are free to cancel ANY time you’d like. Another great thing is that this box is exclusively for Charmers, so if you’d like to get your hands on one of these boxes, make sure to subscribe to Boxycharm (feel free to use my referral link) so you can be eligible for this upgrade.
With that out of the way, we can finally dive into this box and see what I got! As usual, I will be giving my first impressions of each product, I’d love to know what you guys think too!
Theme: Tis’ the Season!
Watch my unboxing video!
Boxycharm was supposed to send 11 products instead of 9, shout-out to Hunida for informing me about that. I didn’t really catch it since I was on an IG blackout trying to avoid spoilers, but apparently people were pretty pissed about that. I’ll admit it would have been nice to get two more products, but as you’ll see, the value of the box greatly exceeds the cost, so I’m okay with these 9 products.
Also, this unboxing will be different from my regular ones just because it’s that special and bigger, so I will be showing you each product individually. You’re welcome! 😉
PYT Mini Hair Straightener
Retail Price: $79.00
This was the product I chose from the customization. It was either this or the SUVA Beauty palette, and since the palette didn’t wow me, I went for this. Also, it seems incredibly expense for such a tiny thing, so it better be good?!
My hair isn’t terribly short nor long, so I may not have a problem using this. I may end up cutting my hair short again because I liked the cut, so it might come in handy after all. You’re supposed to be able to create straight, wavy or curly hair so I’ll have to experiment a bit.
Crimes of Beauty Wristlet (+ Portable Charger)
Retail Price: $22.00
I was surprised to see a clutch in here and I had flashbacks of the crappy Ipsy bags, but this one feels like it’s better quality. It’s faux leather, it’s durable and lightweight and I love that it’s big enough to fit all my things in there.
I also like that it came with a portable charger. I’ve never had one before, but being that it’s so slim, it will fit in this clutch along with everything I usually carry with me. Anyway, the cool thing about this portable charger is that it can be used on both Android and iPhones, and it has a USB input and ouput. Can’t wait to give it a try!
Grande Cosmetics Grande Mascara
Retail Price: $25.00
This mascara gives you length and volume while promoting healthier lashes because it’s infused with a blend of peptides, panthenols and natural waves. Buildable and water-resistant.
I don’t care for waterproof mascaras, and I have been wanting a mascara that gives me both LENGTH and VOLUME, so we’ll see how it performs. However, if it’s good, I don’t think I could repurchase a $25 mascara every three months. 😦
Tarte Tarteist Shimmering Lip Paint
Retail Price: $20.00
I was confused by the name of this, it’s called a lip paint, but it’s actually a lip gloss, lol. It’s supposed to be high-shine and can be worn alone or as a topper.
I swatched it on my hand in my video and it did look pretty reflective when the light hits it just right. It is pretty shimmery, goes on clear but it has pink, purple and golden reflects which I thought was stunning. I would be more inclined to put this over matte formulas than creamy ones because of how the formula felt, a little sticky, but I’m willing to try.
Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer
Retail Price: $20.00
This buffer is multi-use; it cleanses, exfoliates, massages and nourishes the skin. It’s formulated with extracts of yuzu, edelweiss, and vetiver. It smells super amazing as well!
I love the scent, it’s very noticeable, but hopefully it’s not too pungent when I actually use it. I love how soft it feels as well as the shape it came in. I am also curious about how many uses it has, so I may have to take my time with this product to find out lol.
Dusk to Dawn Blush & Highlighter Palette
Retail Price: $26.00
The packaging is quite gorgeous. I love seeing the sunrise and the sunsets so I was living for the packaging. This palette includes two blushes and one highlight. According to the description, they’re buttery smooth and it’s formulated to flatter all skin tones and types.
Hunida made a really good point that the pan size is a bit weird, you wouldn’t be able to dip a blush brush properly. Aside from that, I am excited to try this palette. I’m never excited about blush palettes in subscriptions because the pink shades don’t look good on me, but since this one is for all skin tones, I’m interested to see how well they look and apply. The highlighter looks pretty but I won’t know if I’ll like it or not until I try it.
Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream
Retail Price: $89.00
This product blew my mind, mostly for the price. Yikes! It has a potent cocktail of seaweeds, blended with Ginkgo biloba, rose, and mimosa which moisturizes and improves fine lines.
I’m glad to have an anti-aging product because it’s NEVER TOO EARLY to start using these products. Best advice I have ever gotten in my life. The pollution, stress and a variety of other factors can affect and harm your skin, so these products are important to have in your skincare regimen. I don’t have wrinkles or fine lines yet but I do get stressed out often, so maybe this cream will delay those effects, no? LOL
Luxie Rose Gold Complete Face Brush Set
Retail Price: $65.00
I LOOOVE this brand so much! I love receiving their brushes in my boxes every few months. They’re the softest brushes ever, they look gorgeous, and they’re also versatile.
I can’t afford Luxie brushes on my own, so I love Boxycharm for sending me some every couple of months. I especially love them for including an actual brush set in this box! I was soooo happy I literally squealed and Alex looked at me weird! LOL. This is one of the reasons I’m subscribed to Boxycharm, not going to lie! 🙂
Violet Voss PRO HolyGrail Palette
Retail Price: $45.00
AhhhhH!!!!! What?!! 😀 A few beauty bloggers and vloggers have briefly talked about this palette, and I always thought it was pretty and expensive, but it isn’t?! I was shocked that it was only $45! It’s formulated with finely milled pigments for smooth application and easy blending, so I hope the formula comes through for me. It’s also vegan and CF so yasss!
It has 20 highly pigmented shades ranging in finish from creamy mattes, to bold metallics and silky satins. I’m so so happy to have gotten this palette! I honestly think if I would have chosen the SUVA Beauty palette, I never would have gotten this one! Or I could be wrong, but I can’t imagine people actually getting two palettes, so who knows.
Anyway, I’m excited to try the formula. I love the balance of mattes/satins to shimmer shades. All of them are great as transition shades.
I am so impressed with the products in this box, I’m so happy I got it! A few of these products can be considered LUXURY, such as the Elemis Day Cream, the Violet Voss palette, the Luxie brush set and the Spongelle buffer (even though it’s not as pricey).
I’m still thinking about whether I want to stay subscribed for March, most likely yes, but not if I’m in absolute need of money, lol. That being said, paying $49.99 for this box is typically a stretch for me, but I found it to be worth the extra cash. The total value of this box was $387 which is such an INSANE amount! I love the fact that I can say that this box literally bought me the Luxie brush set because that’s one of my favorite items in this box!
I’d love to know what you guys think of these items?
Who else got a BoxyLuxe and did we get the same products?
If you got your regular Boxycharm, what kind of products did you get? 🙂
