JSC Mystery Box Unboxing — Was It Worth It?

Heyy my dolls!

I don’t think I’ve had the chance to say Happy New Year yet?

We’re kicking off the new year here at AyRGalaxy with new-ish content. Last week I posted my first BuJo + set up, and that was so well received by a lot of you, so thank you! Today I’m unboxing the JSC Mystery Box!! These were limited edition released for Thanksgiving/Black Friday, so once they sold out, that was it. I got the premium box, which was the smallest and it cost $30.

Now, I know not many people like Jeffree. I choose to believe that there’s always a better side to people, but that’s just me. Also, also, also, actions speak louder than words, so if what he said in Shane Dawson’s videos last year about wanting to change is true, that’s still yet to be seen..

Anyway, we’re talking about his makeup today, though. His makeup line is said to be insanely good and after getting my Blood Sugar palette, I couldn’t resist passing this opportunity to try more of his products — $30 for six products?! Sounds good to me!

I got this box mid-December but my husband literally said I couldn’t open it until Christmas, so technically, this was an xmas gift and thus why I’m posting it so late.

Let’s get started and let me show you what I got in this box and if it was worth it!

Watch me unbox and swatch the products:

POP Socket

Price: Unknown

The first product I pulled out was the POP-socket and I started using it right away because I’ve never had one before and had been thinking about getting one. Glad I waited.

It’s pretty strong and it came in handy. I can take photos much much easier! I was unable to find this on his site for some reason, so I’m not sure if he discontinued them or no longer sells them, so I don’t know how much it costs. I will be leaving this product out from my total at the end..

Velour Lip Liner in Unicorn Blood

Price: $16 USD

Looove the shade name! These are fairly new additions to JSC, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a NEW product in this box.

He made lip liners to match the liquid lipsticks so there’s a liquid lip in this exact same shade, NICE! Not many brands do that so that’s neat! The packaging is beautiful and the lip liner swatched soo CREAMY! The pigment is phenomenal! I can’t wait to try it on the lips!

Lip Ammunition in Baby Spice

Price: $18 USD

This lip shade is a cool toned medium pink and I love the packaging of this too because it’s literally a bullet and it’s sturdy. I don’t gravitate towards pink shades but this one looks pretty gorgeous!

I won’t know for sure if it suits my skin tone or not, until I wear it. Pink lipsticks are a weird color for me, not all of them look good. I hope this one does because it’s insanely creamy and also very pigmented in just ONE swipe.

Velour Liquid Lipstick in Flamethrower

Price: $18 USD

Have I mentioned that I’m obsessed with orange lipstick shades?? I’m not sure how that got started, but I love them and I’m happy I got this one in the box too. This one is a matte neon shade and it looks incredible!

I love that the bottle is see-through so you’re able to see the true color without checking the packaging for the shade name. I’m glad I waited because I almost got another orange shade from NYX (still might, not gonna lie, lol.)

I have been wanting to try his liquid lipsticks for YEARS because I have seen people use them for artsy looks and they’ve become the go-to because they’re also safe to use around the eyes. How cool is that?!

Velour Liquid Lipstick in I’m Royalty

Price: $18 USD

Yes, there was a second one in the box and I’m happy about it! This one is a royal purple, and I’m stoked because purple is one of my favorite colors and I don’t have a shade like this in my collection.

I love how bold this color is and I’m honestly a bit intimidated by it but I want to try more artistic looks soon and this might be the perfect color to step WAY out of my comfort zone.

These liquid lipsticks are amazing and also very creamy and feel so lightweight when swatched. I hope they apply the same on the lips!

Skin Frost Highlighting Powder in Mint Condition

Price: $29 USD

Oh my fucking gosh, this thing is HUGE! Not only does it come with a mirror, it also has .53 oz of product! For a highlighter, that’s a lot! This thing will last me forever!

I was secretly hoping to get this one because it’s a weird, fun shade and the universe heard me! Yass!! I swatched this as well and you guys, it’s seriously pigmented!! I can’t wait to see how it looks on the cheeks!

Box Value

Not counting the POP-socket because I don’t know the price, this box came to a total of $99 USD! Wow! I’m speechless because I only paid a little less than one third of the price of everything so this box was definitely a steal!

Was It Worth It?

Hell yess! Even though I didn’t get to choose which products I wanted, I did still get a pretty good variety from different lines, and I also got shades that I do not yet have. On top of that, I now get to test out his products for a much cheaper price than if I was to have bought all of this stuff at full price!

Did anything here catch your eye?
Do you own any JSC products, if so, which ones?
Thanks so much for stopping by my loves!

  1. Wow, you’re really selling this brand to me. I’ve never used or even looked into JSC products before… the only thing I know about him is the controversy surrounding him? And I don’t even know what the actual problem is… haha. Anyway firstly the packaging of these products is literally stunning, especially that lip liner packaging. Gorgeous. And I love the shade of the Baby Spice lipstick, I hope it suits you but I actually really think it will, I can see you wearing it now 😍 love the orange and purple shades too… if anyone can rock a purple and create a really cool look with that shade Rossy, it’s you. I’m so excited to see what you create! Thanks for sharing Rossy, I loved this post a lot 😀

    1. Lol that’s funny.
And basically he had said some racist things in his past like literal years ago. He has apologized time and time again. Apparently a person was calling him names because well, he is gay, and he exploded and said something he shouldn’t have. He seems to have changed a lot, not in just appearance. Hopefully he keeps it up. But I get some people will never let his past go.
Yeah the lip liner is my favorite in terms of packaging! Its absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, I’m hoping it really does otherwise I’ll be disappointed.
I’m excited to try the purple. I still have no idea what I’ll do with it.

      1. Ooh I see… I do remember when it was exploding on twitter all this hate for him but I never really read why because I didn’t know much about him anyway. No, some people never let the past go but I think, everyone deserves a second chance and sometimes in the heat of the moment, you say some awful things, it’s what you do to show you’re truly sorry and changing that counts…
the lip liner packaging is insanely gorgeous, also I didn’t notice, is it a twist liner or a sharpen pencil? because I wouldn’t want to sharpen that haha.
Noo I think it will.. have you tried it yet?
I am so excited for whatever look you create with the purple… think maybe like purple rain or a fruity grape look that’s my initial thought anyway haha

        1. Exactly. A lot of people on social media have been facing backlash for things that were in the past like really? That doesn’t define a person, what defines them is how they are as a person now.
Unfortunately I have to sharpen it which makes me incredibly sad! It would have been better if it was mechanical though!
I haven’t gotten the chance to do my makeup at all for like a couple weeks so I’m hoping maybe I can do that today, maybe create several looks lol.

          1. Oh my goodness totally, the past is in the past… what matters is that you learn from your mistakes because NOBODY is perfect, judge yourself before you judge another!! We all make mistakes and you’re right, what defines people is who they are NOW, not in the past.
Noooo that’s so sad, I prefer sharpening pencils because I find the mechanical ones break more, but the packaging is too pretty to be sharpened 😦
Ahh I hope so! I want to see what you come up with!

          2. Yes, thank you!!
I know right?! Lol. I’m not going to want to sharpen it lol. So far the ones I’ve gotten that are mechanical have lasted me a while.

    1. It’s too bad it was limited edition because it would be a nice starter box per say for people who don’t want to splurge yet. They would have the chance to try out the formula for different products. Although, he doesn’t have a large variety of products yet.
The purple lip does look interesting lol.

  2. OMG, visiting your blog after ages it seems! Looking good! AyR Galaxy looks amazing!
Wow, $30 for all that! That’s pretty good. But more than anything, it was really smart of JS and the marketing team to sell off products that aren’t perhaps their bestsellers. I am sure they wouldn’t want to keep the products on shelf past a certain period as time is of the essence with cosmetics! Win-win situation!!!

    1. Heyyy Hari! Are you back to blogging? Thanks so much I’ve been improving on a lot of things lol
Yeah I think that might have been the case! It was definitely a steal! I wonder if they’ll be doing this again this year.
Thanks for checking out my blog once more! Hope you’re doing amazing!

  3. I love all the packaging!! I especially love how the lip liner is designed–like a calligraphy pen. That’s really creative! How fun that you got an orange lipstick in this mystery box exactly when you’ve been loving orange lips! This definitely seems like a great deal, good for you jumping on it when it was available!
I had a pop socket before but it kept coming off and making me almost drop my phone, lol. I eventually gave up on putting it back on. I think for my next phone case, I’ll get a Loopy case so it’s not something that can just pop off lol. 😉 I hope your pop socket works super well! They definitely make everything easier.

    1. I know right? It’s beautiful!
I was so stoked for that orange lipstick cant wait to play with it soon!
This pop socket is literally so hard to take off, I have to use dental floss to try and get it to come off my phone. I love it!! I can’t believe I’ve been skipping out on these things makes texting easy!

  4. The packaging is so darn pretty! How exciting that you got the orange lippie, I know how much you have been loving the color lately and it suits you so well, too. Interesting that you can use them around your eye… wonder how that looks! I hope you like that pink lipstick, too. I bet it will look just fine on you. 🙂

That green highlighter… whaaa?!?! Does it come up green or like sheeny like the blue ones do?!

Can’t believe you got so much for such a low price!!! Amazing deal!!!

    1. Thank you!! I still haven’t gotten the chance to play with any of my makeup so I’m hoping today is the day and hopefully the rest of the week too. I need to practice because I’m gonna get rusty lol.
The mint highlighter is absolutely gorgeous. It looks more icy than blue but it’s still pretty. I wonder how it will look on the face, like if it’s gonna be like a very different color haha
