One Brand Focus & Review — e.l.f. Cosmetics Skincare

Heyy dolls!

Happy Wednesday!

I didn’t actually have a post planned for today but I kind of decided to do it last minute last night so here I am LOL. Then again, Wednesday’s ARE supposed to be blogging days and Tues/Thurs for videos; which I am doing by the way. Yesterday was both, check out my new declutter post/video if you missed it.

I LOVE doing these One Brand Focus posts for you guys so much because it allows me to give you guys my thoughts and opinions on a brand’s products so you can decide for yourself if these are worthy of your attention (or not, that’s okay too!).

Daily Face Cleanser

Price: $4.00 USD / 5 fl.oz / 150mL

This face cleanser is one of the gentlest formulas I have ever used. I was accustomed to the Formula 10.0.6 Cleanser and how much that one lathers compared to this one. At first I wasn’t sure if that was normal but I’ve found out that the more bubbles/lather, the more the cleanser will strip your skin of its natural oils. Who knew right?

onebrandfocus_elfcosmetics_skincare_cleanser

I’ve been using this face cleanser pretty much every day as of lately and I love it more and more because of how gentle it feels on my skin. I also like the ingredients it has, such as purified water, which is free of toxins, pollutants and microbes. Another ingredient this cleanser has is citric acid which is typically used for treating, acne, clogged pores, wrinkles, dark spots and other concerns.

Exfoliating Scrub

Price: $5.00 USD / 5 fl.oz / 150mL

Despite the fact that this is an exfoliating scrub, it’s surprisingly gentle. Like REALLY gentle. I was genuinely shocked because I’ve tried many scrubs and the majority can feel really rough on the skin if you’re not careful but not this one! The consistency comes out “thick” from the squeeze tube, but starts dissolving as you massage into the skin and feels very smooth.

Exfoliating scrubs are so good for polishing away dead skin cells in order to reveal healthy, glowing skin underneath. It’s also infused with purified water (like the cleanser) and with Vitamin E which is amazing in skincare as it has moisturizing and healing benefits. That being said, you better believe my skin feels semi-hydrated after washing this off, not to mention smooth! This exfoliating scrub is best used 2 to 3 times a week.

Daily Hydration Moisturizer

Price: $8.00 USD / 2.53 fl.oz / 75mL

I love how moisturizing this moisturizer is. And I know it’s in the name but I didn’t expect it to be THAT hydrating by itself (I do use SPF over it, don’t worry). It’s literally enough, I don’t need any extra products or mists when I use this product. I’m so impressed.

onebrandfocus_elfcosmetics_skincare_moisturizer

It’s so lightweight and nourishing, and my skin feels smoother. This moisturizer is infused with jojoba, aloe, shea butter, and cucumber as well as antioxidants; grape, bilberry and Vitamin E. It didn’t win Allure Best of Beauty for no reason!

Key Ingredients:

  • Aloe helps provide hydration and soothe the skin.
  • Jojoba Oil & Shea Butter help hydrate the skin for deep nourishment.

Illuminating Eye Cream

Price: $10.00 USD / Nt. Wt. 0.49 oz / 14g

I’ve been using this product lately a lot as well after testing a different eye cream and I really love it. Not only does it feel nourishing and hydrating because of the ingredients (jojoba, vitamin E, and cucumber) but I definitely feel like it has minimized the dark circles under my eyes (not extremely, but noticeably so).

onebrandfocus_elfcosmetics_skincare_eyecream

I do suffer from dry eye lids during the colder months, so I use it on the lids. I know some people say not to do that(?) but I’ve never had any irritation on my lids from my eye creams. My lids and under eyes are so well hydrated and I always use this to prep my eyes and under eye area before applying makeup.

Nourishing Night Cream

Price: $12.00 USD / 1.76 oz / 50g

Lastly we got the night cream! If you follow me on IG you might remember seeing a post where I compare the cream I got last year with the one I repurchased not too long ago.

onebrandfocus_elfcosmetics_skincare_packaging

Basically, the one I got last year (left) cost me $10.00 USD and I remember that clearly because I got the eye cream (above) along with it and thought to myself how great the pricing was for a night cream. When I repurchased it I noticed the packaging has changed (right) and also the price was raised to $12.00 USD. I don’t understand the price change, but I just hope they don’t raise the prices to everything.

That being said, the products are exactly the same in size and ingredients.

onebrandfocus_elfcosmetics_skincare_nightcream

This night cream is super hydrating. I had been using facial oils with my night creams when I want extra hydration (still do with this one) but this hydrates my skin so well on its own, no need for any extra products. It feels so smooth, lightweight, soothing and it has the same wonderful ingredients as the moisturizer; jojoba, aloe, cucumber, and shea butter. As much as it pains me to say, I think this one can replace my previous favorite, Derma-e Night Cream because that one feels thicker than this one, and also this one feels VERY hydrating.

PROS & CONS

Pros:

  • All e.l.f. skincare products are free from Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates.
  • Not greasy
  • Hydrating/Moisturizing
  • Amazing ingredients
  • Leaves smooth skin
  • Affordable
  • Vegan and Cruelty Free!!

Cons:

  • Some products have fragrance listed in ingredients*
    • Daily Face Cleanser
    • Exfoliating Scrub
    • Daily Hydration Moisturizer

*NOTE: While those products have a fragrance listed in the ingredients, I could barely detect it. However, I’m noting it as a “con” because some people prefer products without it.

P. S. Please, always do a patch test if you have sensitive skin because what works well for me may not for you! In MY opinion, I think these products would be great for all skin types but I could be wrong!

Alright you guys, keep in mind that these are MY thoughts and opinions. I have always loved e.l.f. Cosmetics growing up and I never imagined they would ever expand/add a skincare line and when they did I was nervous it wasn’t going to hold up!

I’m pleased with both the quality and the price and that they have remained vegan and cruelty free all these years. Most of all, they have remained affordable as well and I can honestly say some of these may* become my holy grails!

What do you guys think of these products or about e.l.f. in general?

  1. Eeek I love these types of posts Rossy and this one was great! I’ve been thinking of trying e.l.f skincare for a while considering they’re vegan which is so important, but to hear that the products are so good also I know it’s a must that I try them asap!!!! I’m interested in the eye cream because I always struggle with those, I just never feel like I experience any benefits but then again my eyes are also pretty good in the sense I don’t feel like I really need eye products HOWEVER I still wanna try this one because it might prevent me needing them as much in the future 😉 I love the sound of the exfoliating scrub, it sounds pretty similar to the one from Superdrugs own range brand which is also cruelty free and sooo so soft yet still exfoliating 😍 literally the dream! I can not wait to try these products now Rossy and this post is so beneficial because now I know they are definitely well worth me buying! Thank you so much hun! Have a great week! Xx

    1. Awh thanks 😀 and I really hope you do! Most of their makeup is hit and miss, and I haven’t experienced that in their skincare yet but then again, there’s more to try! 🙂
Yes, very true, better to find a good eye cream that works for you now than to regret it later.
The exfoliating scrub literally IS* a dream!! Its so very gentle and I haven’t come across many that feel like that. I love it.
Hope you’re having a good start to the week Jennie!! xx

    1. I’m not so sure if they sell their products overseas, if they do, definitely try whatever products speaks to you most so you don’t jump into buying every single one 🙂 I recommend all of these and cannot wait to try the rest 🙂

  2. Girl, you’re making me want everything in this post! I’ve always been interested in trying out Elf skincare, and my Target now has such an amazing selection of their skincare products. Eek! I’m not due for any skincare purchases at the moment, but I’m keeping these on my list for the future!

    1. LOL I’m sorry, when I like something I can’t help but gush about it! 😀 And I don’t think it helps that I’ve always used their makeup since I was a teen, and that I never imagined they would expand into skincare so my heart was so happy and I’m even more happy to find that I love them LOL
I hope that you do get something eventually, and when you do, I hope you like it!! 🙂
      thanks for stopping by! xx

    1. Thank you! And same, I’ve always loved elf, I never imagined they would have skincare, so I’m happy they do, and I’m happy they’re holding up so far. Cannot wait to try the rest.
Hope you like whatever you pick up!

  3. I remember you telling me about the bubbles stripping your skin more & I noticed the cleanser I was using did really dry me out & made a lot of bubbles so I switched to a different one. My face feels so much better now!

I didn’t know the moisturizer won best of Allure. It sounds amazing. & my eyelids gets SO dry during the winter, too. I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to put lotion or cream on it?! 😭 I always do that. Ugh.

Elf is such an innovative & awesome brand. Love how they’ve stayed CF & vegan, even if their prices had to go up a smidge. It’s always the best finding new HGs.

    1. You said you were using the Gentle Bubble one right? I’m using that one right now, I haven’t had the chance to really see how my skin feels because I’m going back and forth between that one and this elf one, and Ive just been so busy I haven’t been paying attention, but I will have to see how that one feels for me too. What did you end up replacing it with?
Neither did I until I started writing this post, I thought it was a good thing to add haha
And did you mean you didn’t know you weren’t supposed to put cream on your eyelids? It’s not that you can’t or shouldn’t, some* people (sensitive skin probably) have expressed that when they used their eye creams on their eyelids, their skin would get irritated. Some people have actually had bad reactions, but I am fine and nothing has happened to my lids. On the contrary, using my eye cream on my lids has SAVED them! No more dry eyelids 😀 so if you are doing that and it has worked for you, keep doing it! There’s no right or wrong way to use skincare products (just like makeup). But definitely stop if they get dry when you use eye creams. 🙂 Sorry I confused you!
I agree, I’m about to run out of the eye cream soon, maybe not this year but soon lol. I’m also running out of the cleanser. Would love to repurchase them again but need to use up the other products in my stash.

      1. Yeah, I’m actually using the Glamglow one right now, I *was* using a Tony Moly Vitamin C one but, it was really bubbly & made my skin feel stripped & dry after every use.

No, no you didn’t confuse me, that’s what I meant. I think I did irritate them by putting creams, oils, sunscreen, & such on them. 😦 I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to. Ugh.

I’m most interested in the moisturizer, I may have to check it out when I am ready for a new one. I have one unopened to go & half a jar of my current one lol. Almost there.

        1. Awww that sucks, I’m sure you’ll find another. I also recommend this one, just FYI LOL
Ooooooohhhhh okay that makes sense.. Maybe just switch to only applying eye cream and see if that makes it better? Try for a few days or a week and if you see no change, then stop using products on your lids altogether and see if the products caused that irritation. Good luck!

          1. Yeah I was using moisturizer, toner, serum, sunscreen… all of it on my lids. 😛 I thought it would be good for them but, now they are itchy. LOL I have stopped putting anything on them besides makeup remover now.
