First Impressions — Alamar Cosmetics Reina del Caribe Eyeshadow Palette

Happy Thursday!

I don’t think I’ve ever done a first impressions here but I’m very excited to do it, especially for this palette.

I know I’m a little late in trying this palette because everyone who received it in their Boxycharm back in June already tried it and formed their opinions on it. But life got in the way for me and my mom was in town for two weeks, so I’ve been delaying it ever since. I finally got a chance to sit down and try it for the very first time (two months later) so this post is going to be brief.

I filmed a video for this post as well and attempted one look. I do go a little more in-depth in my video but I’ll do my best to put most of my initial thoughts here for your convenience.

Watch my First Impressions of the Alamar Cosmetics Reina del Caribe Palette:

P.S. My kiddo and Sophie make an appearance in there too and I kept a little bonus footage at the end with Ciel because it was the cutest! 🙂

When I first received it, I was so excited to try it because it looked absolutely beautiful! And upon swatching the shades, my mind was blown! The pigmentation on each shade is just absolutely amazing!

I do like the layout—shimmers together, mattes together—and I love that the shimmers have a water droplet next to their name which indicates that they can be used wet. It was a nice little touch to the tropical/Caribbean theme.

I did come across two shades that had some kick-back when I dipped my brush, Guantanamera and Cafecito. They were a bit drier than Coco-taxi and Tropico, which were absolutely perfection—no kick-back and they blended beautifully. I still have to play around with the rest of the palette to form a solid opinion.

I know this look is simple and everyone probably gravitated towards Celia, but it’s such a beautiful shade. Here’s the first look I created and a very low quality photo:

I like how the look turned out. After getting a first glimpse at their palette’s performance, I think I want to try a few more looks. In fact, I have a list of color combos I’d like to try. But I think that this palette was just what I needed to get out of my creative rut. You’ll be seeing a lot of pictorials from me from now until the end of summer 😉

For a first impressions, this palette blew my mind and I can’t wait to play with it more!

Who has this palette? What do you think of it so far?

  1. Loved your video, Rossy! It was so fun to watch and makes it feel even more interactive. Also, Ciel is adorable, as always! Your backdrop for the video was perfect–so pretty and glam! ❤
