November 2017 Play! by Sephora Review

Hello dolls!

I had hoped to post this last Thursday, but I forgot to edit and upload all my photos, then I got sick on Friday with the flu.. Let me just say, last week was definitely NOT my week. But I’m back, I feel so much better, and I’m ready to do so many things this month.

I originally had planned to keep it to a minimum this month, since I’ll be very busy with birthdays, an anniversary and the holidays, but then my mind got into creative mode so I laid out a ton of posts this month. Hopefully I can keep up with it all!

More on that later, today I have the November 2017 Play! by Sephora Review!

Theme: Survival of the Chillest

I didn’t take photos of the bag for my unboxing (I completely forgot) so here I am redeeming myself lol.

I must say I really liked the bag. Even though it’s cotton, it’s simple black and white. I like the chick meditating, because I believe it’s really a great way to de-stress. I also liked that we can color in the product sheet, I may end up keeping it and coloring it in.

BURBERRY
My Burberry Blush Eau de Parfum Spray

sephoranov2017_burberry

Quick Description & Claims:

A fruity and beautifully feminine floral fragrance that captures the vibe of strolling through a London garden.

Meet the Blend:

Fragrance Family: Floral
Top Notes: Pomegranate and Lemon
Middle Notes: Geranium, Crisp Apple, Rose Petal
Base Notes: Jasmine and Wisteria

Mini Product Review:

I know I said I probably wouldn’t review the perfume samples, but I must say, I really liked this one and felt compelled to share what I think about it.

If you’re into floral scents (like I am) this one is a good perfume. It doesn’t reek of alcohol, and the floral scent is very subtle with a spray or two. I spray the perfume onto my clothes instead of my skin, and even a day later, my sweater smelled fantastic, still pretty subtle and floral with a hint of fruit.

Cruelty Free? NO!

amika
Perk Up Dry Shampoo

sephoranov2017_amika

Quick Description & Claims:

An innovative dry shampoo that uses natural ingredients to add volume as it soaks up oil. This lightweight, non-chalky spray adds texture, volume, and days between washes–it contains rice starch, which absorbs dirt and excess oil.

Mini Product Review:

I know a LOT OF PEOPLE DON’T LIKE THE SCENT. I however, can look past it. I actually don’t mind it at all and the scent doesn’t linger on me, more than it should.

I’ve received this dry shampoo in a Birchbox when I was subbed, and I remember thinking it was okay. I don’t know if they have changed the formula a bit, but I like it more than I remember. I don’t actually wait a whole minute before combing or shaking my hair (I’m sure if I did it’d be more effective), but even so, I found that it actually absorbed excess oil and made my hair looked less oily and clean and no white residue.

Cruelty Free? Yes.

SEPHORA COLLECTION
Rouge Cream Lipstick in The Red

sephoranov2017_sephora

Quick Description & Claims:

A highly pigmented creamy lipstick in a fire-engine red shade. This hydrating formula delivers the classic red color you crave and the hydration your lips need. Its creamy texture and satin finish make it the perfect go-to.

Mini Product Review:

I like that I received this shade just in time for the holidays. It’s a beautiful red shade, definitely a classic. Not too warm or too cool toned, the perfect in-betweener. I love that the formula of this lipstick is creamy because it applied smoothly, and I also love that it has hydrating properties to keep my lips hydrated, especially through this cold, winter season.

I also love the satin finish this lipstick has even though it does transfer quite a bit. I didn’t have a lot of problem with bleeding, but if you will be out all night, or will be eating, I think it would be better to use a lip liner because a red bleeding lipstick is hard to fix, even with concealer at hand.

I ended up re-swatching it because I feel like one single swipe didn’t do the lipstick any justice. The heart-shaped swatch is closer to the actual shade.

Cruelty Free? No.

P
urity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask

sephoranov2017_philosophy

Quick Description & Claims:

A multi-action face mask that banishes blackheads whole it smooths skin. This rich and creamy clay mask instantly removes blackheads, exfoliates skin, and warms as it deep cleans for visibly clearer skin and a luxurious experience.

Mini Product Review:

I liked how gentle this face mask was. It really does smooth my skin while also exfoliating it. It didn’t irritate my skin at all, not even when I unexpectedly got a rash on my chin last week. In fact, I kind of got the feeling that using this mask calmed my skin, and the rash felt less itchy. When I woke up the following morning, my rash was less noticeable, not itchy at all, and my skin is starting to feel and look so much better.

I think this face mask would suit even those with sensitive skin, I definitely recommend it. Also, a little goes a long way!

Cruelty Free? No. (Their website claims they’re cruelty free “except where required by law” which means they sell to China, so they’re technically not CF)

Farmacy
Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer with Echinacea GreenEnvy

sephoranov2017_farmacy

Quick Description & Claims:

A luxurious, honey-infused face cream that nourishes and hydrates skin. This weightless moisturizer features powerful bee-produced antioxidants (think royal jelly and echinacea honey!) for protection and deep hydration that lasts.

Mini Product Review:

I really really loved the formula of this moisturizer. It was definitely lightweight and my skin felt pretty hydrated. I found this moisturizer kind of perfect for our current weather (between autumn and winter). This moisturizer also sinks into the skin fairly quickly. I believe this one would probably come in handy as well once the cold winter sets in, as it claims to hydrate deeply into the skin. Hopefully it works, and it does, you will most likely see it in my winter favorites. πŸ™‚
